The days were steadily leading toward the Sports Festival, and Bakugo and I were training more and more frequently.

My sudden realization on the first day of training had felt surprising, but also satisfying to categorize. It had been a long time since I'd liked someone, and when I'd gone home, I'd debated what exactly to do about it.

I wasn't sure Bakugo would respond well to a confession or being asked out. I wasn't sure if our relationship was strong enough for that, wasn't sure if we'd even qualify as friends.

So I'd settled on exploring it on my own for now. Liking someone always seemed like a good way to learn about myself, and this felt even realer considering the complexity of liking Bakugo.

I would like him secretly, sincerely, and expect timing to do its thing. Yeah. That was what I'd decided.

"How's training with Bakubro going?" Kiri asked one day at the gym. We'd taken to working out together some days after school.

"Good," I said, finishing up a set. "Though it's frustrating, because we're pretty evenly matched, but his endurance always outlasts my own."

He chuckled. "It would be a feat to have more endurance than him. He wants to be a hero with every fiber of his being."

"I know," I smiled. "It's pretty motivating to be around him because of it. When I see him work so hard, it makes me want to work hard too. When I see him succeed, it gives me hope that I can too. His energy is infectious somehow."

"I agree," he said with a nod. "That's why I liked him from the start."

We finished the workout and went to grab lunch with Denki and Mina who were full of excitement for the festival.

"I'm going to pull so many girls," Denki promised us. "After they see my quirk, they'll be flocking over."

Mina rolled her eyes. "You're delusional."

"Hey, you just underestimate my charm! Trust me when I say, I've perfected my rizzing strategies."

"Who do you think will win?" Kiri asked. "I'm worried about Class 1-B. We really don't know much about them or their quirks. Considering the fact that UA only lets in the best of the best, they probably have some really strong abilities."

I shrugged. "I guess we won't know until it happens. We'll just have to see how it pans out. Anyway, I hope someone from Class 1-A wins."

Mina nodded. "I agree. It would suck if someone else-"

'Briiiiiiingggg!

I glanced down at my phone. The caller ID read: "blond ball of boom 💥💥 🤬"

"Sorry guys, I'll be right back," I said, getting up. I walked over to a private corner before answering.

"Bakugo?"
