♥ Who's Venom? ♥
Coby and Stefan were cozied up on the couch, with Coby leaning her back against Stefan's chest as they watched TV together. Stefan's hand gently caressed her arm, his fingers tracing light circles on her skin. The room was comfortably dim, with the soft glow of the TV screen casting a warm light over them.
Stefan spoke above her head, his voice soft and close to her ear. "Todd mentioned that you took a cab into town today."
Coby shifted slightly, still focused on the TV. "Yeah, I went to see Audrey. She needed someone to talk to."
Stefan's hand stilled for a moment before resuming its slow caress. "Next time, don't take a cab. I'll drive you wherever you want to go."
Coby turned her head slightly, glancing up at him with a small smile. "Even if you're at work? You'd drop everything just to drive me around?"
Stefan's voice was steady, filled with a calm sincerity. "Yes. Even if I'm busy, I'll figure it out. If it comes to it, I'll hire a driver just for you."
Coby chuckled at his words, her eyes returning to the TV screen. "You're something else, you know that?"
Stefan's lips brushed the top of her head as he pecked her hair, his voice a gentle murmur. "How's Audrey doing?"
Coby sighed, her tone shifting to one of concern. "She's had it rough. Audrey lost her job, and now she's struggling to find another. It's been hard on her."
Hearing this, Stefan's brows furrowed in thought. Coby suddenly shifted in his arms, turning to look up at him. Their eyes met, and she asked, "Could you... maybe hire her? I know it's a lot to ask, but she really needs the help."
Stefan looked back at her, considering her request. "There's no position available at my company right now," he began, his tone thoughtful. "But, Tenzin mentioned to me recently that he's in need of employees at Lee's Noodles. Audrey could try there, and I'll speak with Tenzin about it."
Coby's eyes lit up with excitement. "Really? You'd do that for her?"
Stefan nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Of course. If it helps, I'll make sure she gets the job."
Coby beamed at him, her happiness clear in her expression. Stefan leaned down, pecking her lips softly before they both settled back into the show they were watching, the warmth of the moment lingering between them.
As Stefan and Coby relaxed on the couch, engrossed in their show, the sudden ring of Stefan's phone cut through the comfortable silence. The sound was jarring, pulling both of them out of their shared bubble. Coby glanced at the coffee table where the phone vibrated and saw the name on the screen.
"Who's Venom?" she asked, turning her head slightly to look up at Stefan.
Stefan's reaction was immediate and intense. He shot up from the couch, his body tense as he reached for his phone. He quickly picked it up and declined the call without hesitation. His movements were sharp, almost agitated, and the change in his demeanor didn't go unnoticed by Coby.
A concerned frown creased her forehead as she watched him. "Stefan, who's Venom?" she asked again, her voice gentle but insistent.
Stefan, still holding the phone in his hand, turned to face her, his expression guarded. "It's no one," he said, his tone clipped and distant.
Coby wasn't convinced. She had never seen Stefan this rattled before. "Stefan, it's clearly someone if they're calling you. Why won't you just tell me who it is?" Her voice was tinged with worry, her eyes searching his for answers.
