Chara's eyes raked over Frisk, their unatural glow an everpresent source of discomfort.
Frisk had once considered them beautiful.
It was hard to see her friend that way anymore.
Hard to see her as..her and not as it.
She smiled, confusion causing her eyes to narrow on Frisk, a questioning, 'hm?' escaping her lips.
"It's..I'm not sure how to say it." Frisk began, letting her gaze fall to the floor, partially to ground herself, and partially to avoid locking eyes with the demon. "It's..absurd."
Chara paused a beat, her soft smile dropping slowly, her eyes pulsing harshly with crimson light.
"More bad news then..and you waited for [Y/n] to leave." She says, sitting beside Frisk, pulling her legs up and into her chest.
It was always easy to tell when Chara was upset, but hard to know if it was anger, sadness or base distress.
She hummed nodding her head as she locks her arms around her legs, covering her coffee brown corduroy's with the green sleeves of her sweater. She buries her face in her knees only her eyes visible, just above the cutoff.
'Kind of nostalgic..She's sulking.' Frisk thinks, a small smirk creeping onto her face.
"Go ahead then." Chara says with a sigh, waving her hand as if to mark the beginning.
"I..it's pretty serious." Frisk says, crossing her legs and leaning against the wall.
"I guessed that when you excluded [Y/n]. Just rip off the band-aid, I don't like suspense."
Frisk chews the inside of her cheek, feeling the urge to pick at her finger strongly pressing at her.
"It'll..be better to show you." Frisk says, holding out her hand.
She casts a barrier over the room, blocking outward vibrations..sounds, specifically, but many other things too.
Her soul appears at her fingers. She softly takes hold of it, taking it into her palm.
"By right of the angel, by rite of soul, I shall live again." Frisk chants, Chara's hand twitches toward a knife that isn't at her hip.
"Frisk." Chara growls, shooting up from her place on the bed as she rounds on Frisk grabbing her by the wrist and the collar of her shirt, eyes leaking viscous black bile as she pushes her into the closest wall.
"Hey-Ah! P-Please, d-don't, wait!" Frisk says back in a panic, her voice practically a whimper, as shaking like a leaf she shows Chara the greyed out [Reset].
Chara's eyes narrow on the button with cold unfeeling anger..until they register exactly what she's looking out.
She slowly lowers the shivering savior to the bed and takes a step back, confusion and not a small amount of guilt warring for agency.
"I..I'm sorry, I..what..was that?" Chara asks, letting the more pressing issue come to the front for now.
Frisk sputters something, sliding to the bed with still shaking, her eyes screwed shut.
Chara winces pausing to let Frisk compose herself.
"It..it's..fine..I should've..explained a bit before, just..doing that.." She says, speaking slowly so she doesn't trip over her words.
"I-I shouldn't have reacted like that it's..I'm..I.." Chara sighs, before looking to the grey, cracked button. "What..does..that mean?"
"I-It's..I..I haven't used it. But I think..I think's it's broken..somehow." Frisk says, holding her thin hospital blanket close, curling into the corner of the bed and avoiding Chara's eyes. "I've never seen this before..not when flowey had the human souls or when..uhm..Asriel..yea."
