A day after mama was moved into the private room baba wakes up too, she jokes that all this while he was just waiting for her to wake up.

Given that his condition was more serious than hers he spent another three days in the ICU despite being conscious, and even after he was moved into a private room, access into it was limited.

Only I, Mama, Aunty Kamila and Baba's older brother, Baba Musa were allowed to enter.

He was doing better, he was able to speak and eat normally, his medications were working and ointments were applied on his burns everyday, in my opinion I wasn't seeing much of a difference but they say it's a gradual process, so I can only hope that it gets better. Mama teases him about having better skin than him, because her burns had started healing already, he can only smile, leave it to my parents to make fun of themselves in the most difficult situations.

I am currently in Aunty's house, getting dressed after a shower, which came after the best sleep I had in the past 13 days.

I didn't know when exactly I fell asleep, I knew I came out of Ya Abdul's car as the call for Maghrib was being called, I sat on the bed telling myself I would sit a little then get up to perform ablution. I don't know at what point my feet moved to the mattress and my head to the pillow because the next things I knew I was turning to grab my phone in my sleepy stare and the screen was reading 11:15pm

I shot to my feet and I rushed to the toilet to do what originally brought me to the house, to take a shower and go back to the hospital, sleeping was not in the itinerary and I did not know how I wasted almost 5 hours sleeping and I didn't even know.

I say my Salam, completing my Isha prayer as a knock comes from the door, I let the person know to come in and Ya Abdul pushes his head in.

"You're awake" he says.

"Why didn't you wake me up? I didn't know when I fell asleep wallahi, sorry for wasting your time." I say.

He shakes his head "don't apologize, it seemed like you needed it."

Oh I did; sleeping on that couch had my back in shambles so I was grateful for that soft mattress, originally I was planning on getting Rumaisa to help step on my back after I shower, but now that I've slept off and it's already 11pm that girl will pay no mind to me, this is around the time she goes on her calls with Al'amin and when she's on a call with him it's like they're in a world of their own.

"I did, i didn't sleep that good in a long time." I say.

He smiles "I can tell, the sleeping marks are still on your face."

I wipe the place I knew he was talking about because I saw it on the mirror, I chuckle "why are they still there?"

"Are you ready?" He asks.

I nod, I remove the hijab before folding the mat and following him out the door.

The car ride was filled with him updating me about the project at the office, the project was going well and he said everyone missed me, I chuckle knowing that the everyone he meant was Adnan and Sarah because those are the only two I speak to.

Speaking of the two , they both came to see Mama, Adnan came the day he promised, and three times after that; the most recent one being when he came two days ago with Aisha and Haifa, it was good to see them again, Sarah also came yesterday, I had not seen her in days so it was good to see her too.

Them simply visiting my sick mother was something that really warmed her heart, and I didn't think they knew how much that meant to me.

"He said he's coming along with me tomorrow" Ya Abdul says.
