"What??" I asked through the phone, confused and wondering if I heard her wrong.

Hameeda sighed "that was exactly my reaction when Rumaisa called me to tell me"

"So it's really happening, you dad is getting married....in 3 days" I said as I dropped my pen to wave at a Sadiq who has passed, my co worker at my old department.

"Yes...it was so unexpected, Wai kawai he told them to be prepared, next week he's bringing in another wife, they'll bring her to the house to greet aunty before taking her to her home...I said Toh fa" she said as she scolded her daughter who was whining about something.

Despite the thick tension I couldn't help but chuckle, Hameeda was really scolding a six month old.

"Ikon Allah...Toh Allah ya kaimu" I said.

She chuckled "Ameen...Rabi'ah let me let you work, Aliya is starting to throw a tantrum, we'll speak when you get home."

We said our goodbyes and I ended the call.

I understood that he had every right to bring in another wife, but he's already been married to Aunty for 23 years, why another wife now, and why is it under such short notice?

A shiver went through my spine after I thought about the wife being Our age mate, I hope not!

But anyways, what's my business?

I sighed to myself before I continue scrolling through insta, I literally do nothing in this department.

I love it here!

"Where should I keep the samosas?"

"On top of my head Rumaisa."

"Kai yaron nan ya za ayi ka shigo chikin gida da takalmi!" (This boy how can you come inside the house with your shoes on!)

"Ina fatan an gama soya masan? Sun kusa shigo wa fa!" (I hope the Masa is done, they're almost here!)

That was the current state of Hameeda's Family house.

Today is her father's wedding...saying that alone is weird as hell, in fact the wedding has been tied already, we were waiting for the bride to arrive.

I knew everyone, me included were on their toes and way to eager to see who this woman is.

I huddled a sleeping Aliya to my chest as I walked down the stairs to Ya Abdul's room, Aunty told me to her as it was empty, every other place in this house is way too noisy.

How the hell did Aliya manage to fall asleep in this environment AND how the hell did this much people manage to make it in such short notice!

Both of these questions I had no answers.

I was about 5 steps away from the room when someone held my shoulder

I turned, it was one of Aunty's cousins.

"Wannan baby din Hameeda che?" She asked with a sweet smile.
