The familiar buzz of the doorbell broke through Gavi's concentration. He paused his FIFA game, a frustrated sigh escaping his lips as his virtual striker missed a clear shot. He knew who it was before he even looked through the peephole.

"Pedri?" he called out, opening the door a crack.

Pedri grinned, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "You wouldn't believe the score I just got in PES."

Gavi rolled his eyes, but a smile tugged at his lips. "Yeah, right. You're probably just bragging because you know I'm about to beat you in FIFA."

Pedri stepped inside, his presence filling the small apartment with a warmth that Gavi had missed. "We'll see about that," Pedri teased, his voice a low rumble. "But first, I need to see your trophy cabinet."

Gavi laughed, leading Pedri to the corner where his collection of trophies and medals sat proudly displayed. Pedri ran a hand over the gleaming surfaces, a look of genuine admiration on his face.

"You're a beast, Gavi," he said, his voice laced with awe. "I'm still amazed you managed to win all these."

Gavi shrugged, trying to play it cool, but his cheeks flushed with a warmth that had nothing to do with the heat of the console. "It's all about practice," he mumbled, trying to sound nonchalant.

"Yeah, right," Pedri chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "It's all about talent, my friend. Pure, unadulterated talent."

He turned back to the console, a competitive glint in his eyes. "So, are you ready to get your butt kicked?"

Gavi grinned, his competitive spirit ignited. "Bring it on, Pedri. I'm ready to teach you a lesson in FIFA."

The next few hours were a blur of shouts, laughter, and the satisfying clicks of the controller. Gavi, despite his initial confidence, found himself facing a formidable opponent. Pedri's skills had improved, his passes precise, his defense impenetrable.

In the end, Gavi lost, the defeat leaving him with a mixture of frustration and a strange sense of satisfaction. He couldn't deny the thrill of the competition, the way Pedri's presence seemed to amplify the game, making it even more exciting.

As Pedri walked out the door, a playful grin on his face, Gavi felt a pang of regret. He wished they could stay, keep playing, keep talking, keep filling the space between them with the warmth of their shared passion.

"See you at training," Pedri called out, his voice a low murmur.

Gavi nodded, a smile tugging at his lips. "See you there."

He closed the door, the sound of Pedri's laughter echoing in the hallway, a reminder of the joy they shared, a promise of the joy that lay ahead.
