The morning light filtering through the blinds was a harsh contrast to the pounding in Gavi's head. He groaned, burying his face in his pillow, trying to block out the unwelcome intrusion of reality. The taste of stale tequila lingered on his tongue, a bitter reminder of the night before.
He remembered the club, the music, the laughter, the drinks flowing freely. He remembered Pedri, his eyes dark and intense, his touch electrifying. He remembered the kiss.
His stomach twisted with a mixture of shame and confusion. It was all a blur, a hazy memory punctuated by the overwhelming feeling of regret. He'd crossed a line, a line he'd been careful to avoid, a line he thought would keep their friendship safe.
He sat up, his head throbbing, his heart heavy. He had to talk to Pedri. He had to apologize. He had to explain.
He reached for his phone, his hand trembling. He saw Pedri's name at the top of his recent calls and his heart sank. He had to call him, to face the music.
He took a deep breath and pressed the call button. The ringing tone echoed in the silence of his room, each ring a hammer blow to his already shattered nerves.
"Gavi?" Pedri's voice was strained, a world away from the playful banter they usually shared.
"Pedri," Gavi started, his voice cracking. "I need to talk to you."
"I know," Pedri said, his voice tight with emotion. "I was just about to call you."
"I'm so sorry," Gavi blurted out, his voice breaking. "I didn't mean for it to happen. I was drunk. I was stupid."
"You were drunk," Pedri echoed, his voice cold. "So was I. But that doesn't make it okay."
"I know," Gavi said, his eyes welling up. "I know it's not okay. I'm so sorry. I ruined everything."
"I don't know what to say," Pedri said, his voice choked with emotion. "I don't know what to do."
Gavi felt a wave of despair wash over him. He had ruined everything. He had lost Pedri, his best friend, his confidant, his brother.
He hung up the phone, his heart heavy, his eyes stinging with unshed tears. He sank onto his bed, the silence of his room amplifying the deafening roar of his guilt.
He was alone, drowning in the depths of his regret, the echoes of Pedri's words ringing in his ears. He had ruined everything.
