After that night when I saved her from thugs, she seemed a bit changed. I wondered what she had on her mind.
Whenever I asked her if something was bothering her, she'd just say that she was missing her dad or she was still having trouble thinking about that night when thugs chased her. I let it slide as I felt I shouldn't push her more.
She is not the person who easily allows others to know what she was going through. It takes a lot for her to trust and be comfortable enough to express herself. So I decided to be patient. If she was comfortable enough, she'd share it with me.
I was headed to her home, to meet her for lunch,l like every other day. But instead, I saw her standing by the lake staring at the sparkling water on a summer day.

Her face remained plain, blank. I knew that she was thinking hard of something.
"Hey Haruka"
"Kakashi!"
"I was actually heading to your place, to pick you up for lunch. Glad I saw you on my way" I squinted my eye and smiled at her
She just returned a small smile but her eyes said otherwise. She was still in thought
"So what are you doing here?"I asked
"I just came to get some fresh air and to take a little walk in nature"
"That sounds nice, but there seems to be something else on your mind. You know you can tell me anything, Haruka"
With that her eyes widened, as if I found some secret of hers. But after few moments, the same expressionlessness returned on her face and she returned her gaze back to the lake
"Kakashi, did you love anyone before?"
"Wh-what? Why do you ask?" I was surprised by the question. I could feel a blush on my face
