Keefe's fingers shook with nerves or excitement as he waited for Sophie and Fitz to come downstairs to the glittering foyer. The second he had stared at himself in the mirror, wearing human clothes and actually looking human, (Though a very good looking human), it felt real. Not that it wasn't before. But if you'd told Keefe that he's be running away to join some rebel group a month ago, he would have laughed and passed it off as a joke.

Now look at him.

The familar range of emotions that came with Sophie neared, and he looked up to see Sophie and Fitz making their way down the giant staircase. "'Bout time you got here," Keefe said. He smirked at patted his hair to make sure it was perfect, just to show Sophie he was ready and more himself than ever. It didn't work. Her brows furrowed into concern. "Hey, no worrying about me, Foster," Keefe said, fanning the space between them, though that barely helped the strength of her emotions.

"I'm worried about all of you," she told him. "You're all risking your lives because of me."

"Eh, what else is new?" Dex asked, flashing his dimpled grin. "And will you relax? We've got this! Though I'm not sure about my shoes." He pointed to his boots, which looked normal to Keefe but probably wouldn't to humans. "All the human ones Fitz had were too big for my feet."

"I doubt anyone will notice," Sophie told him. "But I guess it depends on how long we'll be around humans." She turned her attention to Fitz. "How far away is the hideout after we get to Florence?"

Fitz smiled his *fancy Fitz* smile. "You'll see. Hey," Fitz said, leaning closer. "You trust me, don't you?" Keefe watched, kind of dismayed as flutters erupted from Sophie.(a/n doesn't that sound kinda weird?)

"What is with these clothes?" Biana thankfully interrupted, appearing out of thin air next to Keefe. She wore a sweatshirt three sizes too big and faded, baggy jeans, though she still looked good.

Not as good as Foster, who actually was the only one comfortable in her clothes. She actually seemed more relaxed in them. "At least I get to wear my shoes," Biana said, hitching up her pants to reveal purple flats with diamond-studded toes. "But why do we only have boy stuff?"

"Because I'm a boy," Fitz reminded her. "Besides, this isn't a fashion contest.""

Um, with the way everyone was judging each other's clothes- yes it is. "And if it was, I'd totally win. Right, Foster?" Keefe asked. Sophie's gaze trailed over him for like half a millisecond, but then immediately darted over to Fitz, and her emotions turned fluttery again.

There it was. That unmistakable jealousy. She barely even glanced at him. But then Keefe felt horrible for feeling jealous because Sophie looked at Fitz for longer.

Still, could she maybe stop staring so obviously? "Oh please." Keefe shoved his way between them. "Fitz's human clothes are a huge snoozefest. Check out what Dex and I found in Alvar's closet!" He nudged Dex, and they both unzipped their hoodies, revealing T-shirts with logos underneath."I have no idea what this means, but it's crazy awesome, right?" Keefe asked, pointing to the black and yellow oval on his shirt.

"It's from Batman," Sophie said—then instantly felt regret.

"And that is..?"

"Nothing. Just some human hero that wears black clothes and saves people during the night with his incredibly expensive car. Which is also called the batmobile. It could like, fly and stuff. I don't really know. Amy knew more about superheroes..." She trailed off.

"I'm wearing this shirt forever, guys," he decided. "Also, I want a Batmobile! Dex, can you make that happen?"

"What's my shirt from?" Dex asked, ignoring Keefe, pointing to the logo with interlocking yellow W's. It seemed pretty cool to Keefe, but Sophie's immediate evasion of the question said otherwise.
