The world is cruel. It won't stop for you nor help you until you don't help yourself, until you don't catch up their speed and chase them.
Winning Is Everything...'Won' and 'own' have the same letters in them. Be strong enough that you can proudly say,
"I Won on my Own"In no time I entered the tribal settlement, I was surrounded by the people. They tied my hands and legs to a pole. Many looked hungry, as their eyes seemed to say, "The food came walking on it's own."
Some of their mouths were watered, while some looked at me like they said, "That's my catch" like I was a fish. My fortune was so unfortunate that I reached a tribe that ate humans too. They lit fire at a distance of a metre from me. The flames were lighting up the place that was dark of the clouds. The golden flames went up like they were walls of hell. As they went up, they darkened to black soot like the darkness of hell. Though the fire was away, it tried to come near me as it was promising to burn me to ashes.
At that time, I remembered one of the short stories of Akbar and Birbal. I got the idea of opening and showing the tribes the wound I had got. I didn't know if the tribes were believers of the tradition of not eating wounded animals or not. Now that the stake was over my life, I had to use the most foolish ideas that had less chances of success, too.
I bit the cloth I had tied to pull it off. It hurt me like a thousand needles as I bit my wound but was better than being dead here. I pulled the cloth off with my mouth as some blood flowed down my hand. I prayed that they believed in the tradition.
Everyone opened their mouth as they looked in surprise. Someone, who looked like the chief of the community, said something gibberish that I never tried to understand. Some of the tribes then came to me.
My heart raced for life. Who knows, it could be one of the last beatings of my heart before it could stop. Forever. But, I won't be six feet inside the ground, but in the stomach of some wild tribes whom I didn't recognise. The feeling of their fingers touching my wrist send me shivers down my spine. My wrist felt free from the rough jute rope. I felt the same near my ankle, and the anklets that Sheetal had given me made chiming sounds, soothing my racing heart. The strings were taken off, that tied me to the pole. I was set free. As I ran through the forest, my spirits rose.
I realized that however might the people be, they never forget traditions of their own. That's a speciality that humans have here. Not only humans, all animals, birds, plants, the rain, the sun, the stars, the magical soil, all of them, complete their purpose and leave the earth. I don't know why can't humans of this generation not follow protocol...
As I was walking again, it began to shower lightly. The showers turned into rain and the rain into heavy downpour. The aroma of the first rain, the soil, blessed my nose.
I walked on the wet soil as my foot went a feet deep in it. My hair was flattened and looked like it was straightened. I held my right arm as I kept moving forward to find the teleport. I saw the grey sky, the grey trees and the grey soil. Everything seemed grey and colourless as I was walking through the woods.Just then, I heard a voice that said,
"Hey, you know? That boy, the one who gets furious at me, he got the teleport."My lips curved to a painful smile, hearing the familiar voice and the sound of my defeat reverberating in my mind at the same time.
I said as I looked up at the figure,
"Oh-... You met him?""No, not yet. He was going towards the south, when I saw him and came flying to you."
"Meeting the loser first instead of flocking around the winner, you surely are something different."
The parrot flew off. There, Sahil looked at the radiant teleport with eyes showing that they won everything. He had a desirous smile that desired everything on this earth. He put his trembling-in-excitement hand in the teleport when something freezed him. He failed to move ahead.
"Responsibility"
This word said by the parrot kept ringing in Sahil's ears. He felt the burden on his shoulders. The burden of the sin even before he committed one.
The truth, which he was going to turn into a lie with his own hands. Entering the teleport, without the one, without his responsibility, without Suzanne.
He closed his eyes, and took a deep breath, as the win and the responsibility stood against each other in his mind.
His fist closed, as he felt the heaviness of the word responsibility.
Responsibility had already lost once in his mind, and he didn't want it to lose again. He banged his closed fist over a tree.
"Damn it! Tell me, where is she?""Northwest for you"
My eyes closed, feeling the drops of rain fall over my face. Now that everything was gone, loneliness struck me. I am all alone now, with no companion in this trap, with nothing but myself. Although I was surrounded with trees, fertile soil, I felt the soil dry as sand, the trees absent as an open area and the rain felt as dusty wind. I felt deserted, with no form of life around me. (Pun intended)
While I had lost hope for it was evening now, I sat down under a tree that protected me from the rain a little. My clothes were soaked in the water from the rain.
It had become darker, and things seemed to be in a darker shade of grey than it was before. I looked at the few drops that fell over my wound. I bend my knees and brought them closer to my face, and placed my hand and head on it. I smiled at my dress, my eyes shutting down for a bit, thinking of all the sweet people I had in my life, including Sheetal. When I looked up, I saw a shadow, darker than the dark grey shade, almost black. The pitch dark shadow dominated most of the angle of vision I had.
•••••
What will Sahil do? Will he let his responsibility lose again, just like Suzanne?
Who is the dark figure?
I'm sorry for the late update.🙇
