When everyone was out of their houses, the person with the dholak announced in an unkindly harsh voice,
"ATTENTION!!
WE HAVE LOST OUR HONOURABLE KING FOREVER!!
ATTENTION!"
A shock wave hit all of us. I literally couldn't think of anything till the next minute. We were totally frozen. How could it even happen? Hundreds of questions aroused in our mind.
The announcement turned out to be quite a horrifying one. Till some time, people could not believe it. Everyone was in distress. Chats and murmurs were heard praising the king.
"He was such a kind person!"
"He shouldn't have left us so early!"
Sahil then told me,
"The people won't be able to choose between the two Princes. They aren't capable to be Kings so early."
I replied in a low voice, "People are mourning here for the King's death and you're taking the conversation to another topic which is not our work."
Sahil whispered to me,"I guess we should go home. If the reason of his death is not a heart attack, there are chances of riots taking place now."
"I guess your right."
We returned home. Sheetal then asked us, "Where were you all? I got scared that if any soldier saw you then they will take you to the court."
I then gave the reason of drinking water. Sahil felt that the reason was quite stupid but he stayed quiet. Because it was me who was supposed to handle Sheetal's interrogation, according to Sahil.
"But you weren't at home." She counter-attacked me.
"Um-... We went to the well."
Sahil giggled. I glared at him.
"Why did you go to the well? I have water at home. I fetch water every morning, you should've asked me." She smiled and proceeded towards the kitchen to get some water. She asked from there,
"Where's the water you fetched from the well?"We both knew that I didn't have an answer to this question. And I knew Sahil was not helping me in this. I whispered to him,
"If you enjoyed even a little bit of that time when I took you running then please help me."
"Aww poor baby, stuck in a dilemma. And you, Ms. Suzanne is asking a boy for help?" He said, with playful eyes and that idiotic smirk stuck on his face.
I knew he wasn't going to help me.
SOMEONE SUGGEST ME, WHAT SHOULD I SAY??
Until then, Sahil spoke up,
"Talking about fetching water, you might have to go earlier than usual tomorrow because if the death is not natural then riots and robbery can take place."Sheetal innocently forgot about the interrogation and started praising the King.
Does it mean you enjoyed that time Sahil?
The next day, (Day 2)
We were at home itself. I can call this as my home because I feel comfortable here. Sheetal's friendly talks make me feel that I'm not lost anymore.
As Sahil said, we had fetched water from the well at early morning itself. I said to everyone,
"For now, there is no law and order in the kingdom. So people are free to do anything. At such times, there are many chances of robbery. So I suggest not to open doors for anyone."
Everyone agreed.Sheetal seemed to be quite mautre because she stayed alone and did all the work on her own. I asked Sahil,
"What you think will be her age?""Hmm. 22."
"I feel she is between 19 and 21? Should we keep a bet?"
"I'm fine but I wonder what will you do when you lose."
"I'm not going to lose. Because I have kept a range of numbers."
"Let's see..."
When I asked her, she told me, "Hmm. My mom had told me 10 years back that I was 12. So now, I'm 22."
Awkward silence struck my face. I was flabbergasted by the answer. 'Such a long answer!' I thought. Sahil started smiling.
Ah that dumb smirk again, I feel like punching him.He seemed to look as if he had won the world. I asked him,
"Ok you won. But why soooo happy? Isn't it too much?"
Obviously I was trying to calm myself down...
He replied calmly,
"IN THIS WORLD, WINNING IS EVERYTHING."I was very astonished by his answer. Then, to make me stop thinking much, he said,
"Anime fan you know."He gave a genuine smile which made me very confused about his character. Is he good or bad?
Sheetal had gone to cook food in the kitchen. I saw her cooking. She was telling me her story of why she was alone.
She said her parents went missing when she was 15. She tried to find them everywhere but no one could find them. From that time onwards her parents were considered dead. And her soldier's family had reduced to just her with the status of 'middle class'. I genuinely felt sorry for her.
After some time, in the afternoon, I started getting bored. I had my phone but I couldn't remove it. I tried to find time when Sheetal is busy. When she went to the kitchen, I slowly removed the phone. I opened the image of the painting and started observing it. From behind, I heard a soft voice,
"What's that in your hand?"Worst-case scenario, the person asking me this was none other than Sheetal.
•••••
This bet between Suzanne and Sahil is the reason why I didn't mention Sheetal's age in the Character Aesthetics.
What do you think of Sheetal's sad past?
And these as usual arguments between Suzanne and Sahil.
(Even my keyboard knows it😂)A new bbg is entering the show in the next chapter, be ready!
