Jungwon sat on the edge of his bed, staring at his phone. The events of the day replayed in his mind like a whirlwind, and now, he was faced with the task of telling Jake and Sunoo everything. It wasn’t going to be easy, but he knew he couldn’t keep them in the dark—especially with the way Heeseung, Sunghoon, and Niki had shown such keen interest in them.
With a deep breath, he unlocked his phone and started a group call. The line rang a few times before Sunoo’s voice came through, bright and cheerful as always.
“Hey, Jungwon! What’s up?”
A second later, Jake joined the call, his tone more laid-back. “What’s going on? You sound serious.”
Jungwon hesitated for a moment, gathering his thoughts. “There’s something I need to tell you both,” he began, trying to keep his voice steady. “It’s about Jay… and his friends.”
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and then Jake spoke, his tone cautious. “Okay… what’s going on, Won?”
Jungwon took another deep breath and started from the beginning. He told them about meeting Jay at the café, how they’d met again later that evening, and how Jay had offered to take care of him. He explained the strange allure Jay had and how he’d been swept up in this new world that felt both dangerous and exhilarating.
As he spoke, he could almost hear the gears turning in Jake’s mind, and he could imagine Sunoo’s wide-eyed expression.
“Wow,” Sunoo finally said, his voice filled with wonder. “That’s… insane. But, I mean, are you okay with it? Like, really?”
Jungwon nodded, even though they couldn’t see him. “I think so. It’s all a bit overwhelming, but Jay’s been… well, he’s been kind and respectful. He’s not pushing me into anything I’m uncomfortable with.”
Jake’s voice came through, more serious. “And what about these friends of his? The ones you mentioned—Heeseung, Sunghoon, and Niki?”
Jungwon hesitated, knowing this was the tricky part. “That’s actually why I wanted to talk to you guys. Heeseung and Sunghoon… they’re interested in you, Jake. And Niki… well, he seems really interested in you, Sunoo.”
The line went silent for a moment as his friends processed the information. Sunoo was the first to break the silence, his voice a mix of surprise and excitement. “Wait, what? They’re interested in us? Like, how interested?”
“Like, they want to meet you guys,” Jungwon clarified. “They asked me if you’d be up for it.”
Jake let out a low whistle. “This is… a lot to take in, Won. Are these guys like Jay? Rich, powerful… intimidating?”
“Pretty much,” Jungwon admitted. “They’re close to Jay, like brothers. They seem nice enough, but… they’re definitely not like anyone we’ve ever met before.”
Sunoo giggled, clearly intrigued by the idea. “Well, I mean, it’s not every day that billionaires take an interest in us. I say we meet them! What’s the worst that could happen?”
Jake was more cautious. “I don’t know, Sunoo. This isn’t just some casual meet-up. These guys live in a different world. We could be getting in way over our heads.”
Jungwon sighed, understanding both of their perspectives. “I know it’s a lot, and I don’t want you guys to feel pressured. But I also don’t want to keep anything from you. If you’re not comfortable with it, just say the word, and I’ll tell them you’re not interested.”
There was another pause before Jake spoke again, his voice thoughtful. “I’m not saying no, but I’m not saying yes either. Let me think about it, okay? I need some time to wrap my head around all of this.”
“Same here,” Sunoo added, though his tone was more playful. “But I gotta admit, I’m kind of curious. I mean, it’s not like we get offers like this every day.”
Jungwon felt a wave of relief, glad that they were at least open to considering it. “Take all the time you need. I just wanted to make sure you guys knew what was going on.”
Jake sighed softly. “Thanks for telling us, Won. This is… a lot, but we’ll figure it out together, okay?”
“Yeah,” Sunoo chimed in, his voice warm. “No matter what happens, we’ve got your back.”
Jungwon smiled, feeling a bit more at ease now that he had shared everything with them. “Thanks, guys. That means a lot.”
They talked for a little while longer, the conversation shifting to lighter topics as they tried to ease the tension. Eventually, they said their goodbyes, and Jungwon was left alone in his quiet apartment, the reality of the situation settling in once more.
As he lay back on his bed, staring up at the ceiling, Jungwon couldn’t help but wonder what the future held for him and his friends. They were all stepping into unknown territory, and while the possibilities were exciting, they were also a little terrifying.
But with Jay by his side, and knowing that Jake and Sunoo were there for him, Jungwon felt ready to face whatever came next—no matter how complicated things might get.
