A few weeks had passed since Jungwon had revealed the black card incident at Stary Café, and today marked another special occasion—Jungwon’s birthday. The party was at his apartment, a cozy but modern place that had been decorated with balloons and streamers for the occasion. His friends, Sunoo and Jake, were there, of course, as well as their boyfriends—Niki, Heeseung, Sunghoon—and, of course, Jay.

Jungwon hadn’t gone all out with the preparations, but Jay had insisted on helping him organize the party, making sure that everything was top-notch. From the fancy gourmet food to the selection of drinks, everything screamed luxury. Jay had even ordered a huge, beautiful cake that was now sitting in the fridge, waiting to be cut. But for the time being, the attention was on the drinks—particularly the strong alcohol that had found its way into everyone’s glasses.

The night started off innocently enough. The group had gathered in Jungwon’s apartment, eating the array of fancy hors d'oeuvres that Jay had arranged—delicate pastries, fine cheeses, and gourmet dishes none of them could pronounce. The atmosphere was light, full of laughter and teasing as they caught up on each other’s lives. Niki and Sunoo were busy talking about a game they’d been obsessed with, while Heeseung and Sunghoon took turns playfully arguing with Jake about some inside joke.

Jungwon couldn’t help but smile as he watched his friends, feeling content and happy. But as the night progressed, and as the drinks kept flowing, things took a decidedly more chaotic turn.

“Here’s to Jungwon!” Jake declared loudly, raising his glass of what could only be described as dangerously strong whiskey. His cheeks were flushed, and his usual calm demeanor had been replaced by something much looser, much more carefree. “Happy birthday, my guy!”

Sunoo, already giggling uncontrollably beside him, raised his own glass. “Happy birthday, Wonnie!” His voice slurred slightly, and he nearly toppled over as he leaned into Niki, who steadied him with a grin.

Jungwon, already feeling the effects of the alcohol, laughed and clinked his glass with theirs. “Thanks, guys. I appreciate it.” His voice was warm and relaxed, the edge of sobriety slipping further and further away.

Jay, sitting beside him, watched with amusement. He had been keeping a watchful eye on Jungwon all night, but seeing his boyfriend so happy—and just a little tipsy—made his heart swell with affection. “How are you feeling?” Jay asked softly, leaning in close so that only Jungwon could hear him.

Jungwon turned to Jay, his smile wide and goofy. “I feel... great! This is the best birthday ever.” He hiccupped and then giggled, leaning his head on Jay’s shoulder. “You’re the best, Jay.”

Jay chuckled, wrapping an arm around Jungwon’s shoulders and pulling him closer. “I’m glad you’re having fun,” he said, pressing a soft kiss to Jungwon’s temple.

As the night wore on, the drinks kept coming. Jake, Sunoo, and Jungwon were definitely feeling the effects of the alcohol now. Sunoo was lying sprawled across Niki’s lap, laughing hysterically at something that no one else seemed to find funny, while Jake was deep in a very animated conversation with Heeseung about absolutely nothing.

“I’m telling you, Heeseung,” Jake slurred, gesturing wildly with his half-empty glass, “I could totally be a professional dancer. I just... I just need the right song!”

Heeseung, who was equally tipsy but still managing to hold it together, raised an eyebrow. “A professional dancer, huh? I’ll hold you to that, Jake.”

Sunghoon, sitting on the other side of Jake, snickered. “You should have seen him last time. He was convinced he could sing opera.”

Jake shot him a look, but the effect was ruined by the way his head swayed slightly from the alcohol. “That was... that was different!”

Meanwhile, Jungwon had leaned fully into Jay’s side, his eyes half-closed as he tried to fight off the dizziness. “You’re so comfortable,” he murmured, his voice barely audible.

Jay smiled, gently running his fingers through Jungwon’s hair. “I’m glad,” he whispered back, his voice soft and full of affection.

As the night continued, the group eventually moved to the couch, all of them draping themselves over the furniture in various states of drunkenness. Niki had managed to calm Sunoo down, who was now peacefully resting his head on Niki’s shoulder, his laughter replaced by soft, sleepy murmurs. Heeseung and Sunghoon sat on either side of Jake, who had finally stopped talking long enough to lean back and close his eyes, clearly on the verge of falling asleep.

Jungwon, however, was still nestled in Jay’s arms, his fingers absently tracing circles on Jay’s knee as he mumbled something incoherent. “Jay?” he said after a long silence, his voice soft and sleepy.

“Yeah?” Jay responded, his hand still stroking Jungwon’s hair.

Jungwon tilted his head up to look at him, his eyes bleary but full of warmth. “I love you,” he said suddenly, the words slipping out without hesitation.

Jay’s heart skipped a beat. He had been waiting to hear those words from Jungwon, but he hadn’t expected them tonight. He smiled down at him, his voice tender. “I love you too, Jungwon.”

Jungwon’s face lit up in a lazy smile, and he snuggled closer to Jay, his head resting on Jay’s chest. “Best... birthday... ever,” he murmured before his eyes fluttered shut.

Jay chuckled softly, holding Jungwon close as he glanced around at the room. The party had definitely taken an unexpected turn, with everyone either tipsy or on the verge of passing out. The fancy food remained half-eaten, and the elaborate birthday cake Jay had ordered sat untouched in the fridge, forgotten in the chaos.

He glanced over at Niki, who was now gently adjusting Sunoo so that he was more comfortable. “Guess the cake is for breakfast tomorrow,” Niki said with a grin, his voice quiet but still full of amusement.

Jay nodded, chuckling softly. “Yeah, I think you’re right.”

Heeseung, who was half-asleep himself, opened one eye and muttered, “It was a good party.”

Sunghoon, his head resting on Jake’s shoulder, nodded in agreement. “Yeah... but I’m definitely never drinking this much again.”

The night slowly wound down, the group drifting into a peaceful, alcohol-induced slumber. Jungwon, Sunoo, and Jake had certainly made the most of the night, and while the fancy food and cake might have been forgotten, the memories of laughter and love were more than enough to make it a birthday to remember.

As the lights dimmed and the apartment grew quiet, Jay held Jungwon close, smiling softly to himself. This was the kind of chaos he didn’t mind.
