[EVERRIDGE ACADEMY - DAY]

The sun dipped low over the campus, casting long shadows across the school courtyard. The day had been packed with the usual hustle of high school life-classes, laughter, and a flurry of activities. But for Jace, today held something different, something that had been gnawing at his thoughts since the morning.

Jace sat on one of the benches near the basketball court, staring absentmindedly at the game going on in front of him. His mind wasn't on the ball or the players, though. It was on a girl he had seen again earlier during the school's talent showcase-Mia.

He bumped into her the other. She was stock in his mind, since that day. But today, something had shifted. Jace found himself captivated by her in a way that was new, intense, and utterly confusing.

He knew he wanted to get to know her, but there was one problem: he wasn't even sure of her name.

Aiden, one of Jace's best friends, and a fellow varsity player, jogged over after the game wrapped up. He noticed Jace's unusually quiet demeanor.

AIDEN
(grabbing a bottle of water and taking a long gulp) "Hey, dude. What's up? Kanina ka pa tulala riyan"

JACE
(snapped out) "Hey, Aiden. I, uh... I need a favor."

AIDEN
(intrigued) "Sure, man. What's going on?"

JACE
(feeling awkward) "So, there's this girl... We saw na nung isang araw and I saw her again at the talent showcase today. Dancer pala, man. She was really energetic and... cute. But I don't even know her name."

AIDEN
(chuckled) "Oh, that girl? And you want me to help you figure out who she is?"

Jace nodded, trying to play it cool but failing miserably.

JACE
"Yeah. I mean, you're good with people, and you know pretty much everyone here sa campus. Can you help me out?"

Aiden grinned, giving Jace a playful nudge.

AIDEN
"You've got it bad, don't you? Alright, I'll see what I can do. Give me a minute."

Aiden walked off towards a group of students hanging around near the gym. Jace watched as Aiden talked to a few of them, laughing and chatting easily. It didn't take long before Aiden returned, a triumphant look on his face.

AIDEN
"Her name's, Mia Jade - Mertineza, She's a dancer, as you already know and dalawa lang best friends niya rito sa campus. They're like a trio, always together."

Jace letting it sink in. It felt right, like the missing piece of a puzzle he hadn't realized he was trying to solve.

JACE
"Mia Jade... Thanks, Aiden. I owe you one."

AIDEN
(leaning against the bench) "No worries, man. So, ano next move mo?"

JACE
"I'm going to talk to her. There's this event after school today-a small gathering for the participants of the showcase. Aayain kong lumabas."

AIDEN
(curious) "Wait, bro, teka. Naka-move on ka na ba? Mamaya gawin mo lang rebound 'yan ah, minus 10 ka kay bossing"

JACE
"Don't worry, dude. Before ako humingi ng pabor sa 'yo minake sure ko munang wala na akong nararamdaman sa ex ko"

Aiden gave Jace an approving nod.

AIDEN
"Okay pre, good luck! Just be yourself. You'd be lucky if she agrees."

[DURING THE EVENT - CAMPUS GROUND]

The school day ended, and Jace made his way to the event, nerves buzzing under his skin. The gathering was casual, with students milling about, talking, and grabbing snacks from a table set up in the corner. Jace spotted Mia near the refreshment table, chatting with her friends and smiling that bright smile that made his heart skips a beat.

He took a deep breath and walked over, rehearsing what he would say in his head. As he approached, Mia turned and caught sight of him. Her smile didn't falter, but there was a flicker of curiosity in her eyes.

JACE
"Hi, Mia, I'm Jace."

Jace voice steady, despite the nervous energy coursing through him.

MIA
(friendly tone) "Hi, Jace, Galing mo kanina ah. You guys played well!"

Jace smiled, appreciating the compliment.

JACE
"Thanks. And your performance at the showcase was amazing. I couldn't take my eyes off your dancing."

Mia's cheeks flushed slightly, but she maintained her composure.

MIA
"Salamat. I love dancing. It's my escape."

Jace nodded, feeling a connection form.

JACE
"Yeah, I get that. Basketball is kind of like that for me. It's where everything else fades away."

They stood there for a moment, an easy silence settling between them. Jace knew this was his chance, and he didn't want to miss it.

JACE
(sincerely) "Listen, Mia, I know we've just met, pero I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me minsan. Maybe we could grab some coffee or catch a movie?"

Mia looked at him, her eyes searching his face for a moment before she smiled-a warm, genuine smile that made Jace's heart lift.

MIA
(softly) "I'd like that, Jace. How about we go out this weekend?"

Jace couldn't help the grin that spread across his face.

JACE
"It's a date, then."

They exchanged numbers, and Jace walked away from the event with a lightness in his step, excitement bubbling in his chest. He had taken the leap, and it had paid off. As he looked back over his shoulder, he saw Mia chatting with her friends, a small smile playing on her lips as she glanced his way.

Jace couldn't know what the future held, but in that moment, everything felt right. He had taken the first step towards something new, something that felt like it could be the start of a connection that would change everything.
