[MIA'S HOUSE - DAY]
The morning sun filtered through the blinds, casting soft rays of light across Mia's room. The light was gentle, almost hesitant, as if it wasn't sure whether to disturb the stillness. Mia had spent countless hours lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, lost in the labyrinth of her own thoughts. The weight of the last few days had pressed down on her like a heavy blanket, suffocating and unyielding.
Mia stirred beneath the covers, her body sore from the days of inactivity. Her stomach growled, a faint but insistent reminder that she hadn't eaten in nearly two days. She'd ignored the hunger before, letting it blend into the background noise of her grief, but now it was impossible to ignore. It was as if her body was waking up, shaking off the fog that had enveloped her since Jace had broken up her heart.
With a deep breath, Mia sat up in bed, her head spinning slightly from the sudden movement. She hasn't had much strength lately, but today felt different. There was a small, stubborn spark inside her, one that refused to be extinguished. It was the part of her that had always fought back, the part that had survived every challenge life had thrown at her. And now, it was telling her that it was time to stop wallowing and start living again.
Mia pushed the blankets off and swung her legs over the side of the bed, her bare feet touching the cool hardwood floor. She stood up slowly, testing her balance, and then made her way to the bathroom. The girl who stared back at her from the mirror was pale and tired, but there was something else in her eyes-a hint of determination, a flicker of life that hadn't been there before.
She turned on the faucet and splashed cold water on her face, feeling the refreshing shock of it jolt her awake. The water washed away the remnants of her tears, leaving her skin clean and her mind clearer than it had been in days. Mia looked at herself in the mirror once more, her reflection a reminder that she was still here, still alive, and that she had the power to move forward.
Mia took a deep breath, straightened her posture, and nodded to herself. It was time to reclaim her life, to start focusing on the things that made her happy. Jace had been a huge part of her world, but he wasn't the only thing that defined her. She had her passions, her friends, her family-and they were all still here, waiting for her to come back to them.
Her stomach growled again, louder this time, and Mia decided that the first step to getting back on track was a proper meal. She left the bathroom and headed downstairs, the scent of fresh coffee and toast, greeting her as she entered the kitchen. Her mother was already up, standing by the stove with a cup of coffee in hand, but when she saw Mia, a smile lit up her face.
JANNEZA
"Good morning, sweetie, You're up early."Janneza sets her coffee down and turns to face her daughter. Mia returned the smile, though hers was smaller, more tentative.
MIA
"Yeah, I figured it was time to stop hiding in my room."Janneza's smile widened with relief, and she reached out to tuck a stray strand of hair behind Mia's ear.
JANNEZA
"I'm so glad to hear that. How about some breakfast? I was just about to make some eggs."MIA
"That sounds perfect,"Mia feeling her appetite return in full force. She grabbed a seat at the dining table and watched as her mother moved around the kitchen, cracking eggs into a bowl and whisking them with practice ease.
As Janneza cooked, Mia let her thoughts wander. It was strange, but she realized that in all the chaos of the past few days, she had forgotten about the simple things that made her happy-like the smell of breakfast cooking, the warmth of her mother's smile, and the way the morning sun bathed the kitchen in light. She had been so consumed by her heartbreak that she had forgotten how much beauty there was in the world, how much she had to be grateful for.
