Jennie laced up her hiking boots, slinging her backpack over her shoulder as she set out early in the morning. She had told the others she needed some alone time, and they had nodded understandingly, still half-asleep.
As she walked away from the villa, Jennie felt a sense of liberation wash over her. She loved her friends, but sometimes she just needed to be alone with her thoughts.
She drove to the trailhead, the winding roads leading her deeper into the mountains. The air grew cooler and crisper, filled with the scent of pine and earth.
Jennie parked her car and took a deep breath, gazing up at the mountain looming before her. She had chosen this trail specifically for its solitude, hoping to clear her mind and shake off the lingering feelings she had for Taehyung.
With a determined stride, Jennie set off onto the trail, her feet crunching on the gravel path. The trees grew closer together here, casting dappled shadows on the ground.
As she climbed higher, the silence enveloped her, broken only by the sound of birdsong and the rustle of leaves. Jennie felt her heart rate slow, her breathing deepen, and her mind begin to quiet.
She walked for hours, the trail winding upward, the trees growing taller and the air growing thinner. Jennie felt a sense of peace settle over her, as if she had left her worries and doubts back in the valley below.
But as the sun began to reach its peak, Jennie realized she was farther from the villa than she had intended. And she was alone. A shiver ran down her spine, despite the warmth of the day. Suddenly, the silence didn't feel so peaceful anymore.
As Jennie rounded a bend in the trail, she heard a familiar voice calling out to her.
"Jennie! Wait up!"
She turned to see Kai, her ex-boyfriend, walking towards her with a bright smile. But he wasn't alone. By his side was Krystal, his girlfriend, looking stunning in a yellow sundress.
Jennie's eyes widened in surprise. "Kai...I didn't know you were here."
Kai nodded, putting his arm around Krystal. "We came to Jeju to spend some quality time together, away from the media and paparazzi. We wanted a break from the chaos."
Krystal smiled warmly at Jennie. "Hi, I'm Krystal. I've heard a lot about you."
Jennie forced a smile, feeling a twinge of awkwardness. "Nice to meet you, Krystal."
Kai continued, "We're trying to keep a low profile, but I'm glad we ran into you. How have you been, Jennie?"
Jennie shrugged, trying to play it cool. "I'm good. Just enjoying the hike."
Krystal nodded enthusiastically. "We should hike together sometime! It's so beautiful here."
Jennie hesitated, unsure if she wanted to spend more time with her ex and his new girlfriend. But Kai and Krystal seemed genuinely happy, and Jennie didn't want to be rude.
"Maybe," Jennie said, trying to sound friendly.
As they chatted, Jennie couldn't help but notice how different Kai seemed. He was more relaxed, more at peace. Maybe he had finally found what he was looking for.
Jennie agreed to join Kai and Krystal on their adventure, and together they set off on the scenic trail. The three of them chatted and laughed, enjoying the stunning views of Jeju's coastline.
As they walked, Kai and Krystal shared stories about their relationship, and Jennie found herself feeling happy for them. They were adorable together, and their love was palpable.
