KGOMOTSO
"Oh and how is that project going?"
Ah! This drawing. While everyone went home, I'm here at 7PM in my office trying to figure this drawing out with Musa disturbing me. That house doesn't give me inspiration either.
Kgomotso: "I'm still trying to figure out what features to add."
Musa: "And why aren't you home yet? You know we're about to close in an hour right?"
Kgomotso: "I know."
Musa: "And ubaba wase khaya?"
Kgomotso: "He'll be strong."
Musa: "Heh! KG!" I chuckle.
I put my notepad and pen down on my desk. This guy already has got my full attention now.
Musa: "And then?"
Kgomotso: "It's you, dude. You have my full attention now." He laughs.
He slouches his back on the chair and folds his arms against his stomach. I can feel he's about to get serious.
Musa: "You know KG what we do here as interior designers is a huge deal right?"
Kgomotso: "Yes." I say briefly. "Where are we going with this?" He chuckles.
Musa: "You've always been straightforward neh. Anyways, all I'm tryna say is, don't stress too much about this drawing, KG. You still have a month left."
Kgomotso: "That's easy for you to say. You're so laid back and chilled when it comes to work, but I take my job seriously."
Musa: "But you make dope designs, so I don't get why you're stressed. And what do you mean I'm laid back and chilled? I take my job seriously too, you know?"
Kgomotso: "Okay, Musa."
Musa: "So is babakhe coming to fetch you?"
Kgomotso: "Mm. Let me call him."
I actually left my phone on silent. I don't anyone disturbing me when I do my job, not even Lesego.
It's been two months after that whole incident and as the days went by heart softened a bit.
What Maria told me sunk in deep and it made me realise that all he needs is just a chance to be redeemed. I know, people would say 'This is not the Kgomotso I know' but honestly, everyone deserves a chance. He said he'd ever do it again and he stuck to that promise. He left me 4 missed calls? Ooh.
Kgomotso: "He left me 4 missed calls actually. He should know by now I don't call during work hours."
Musa: "Okay then, call him."
He's not picking up.
O-kay?Musa: "Is everything okay?" He asks after the phone goes to voicemail twice.
Kgomotso: "His phone goes straight for voicemail."
Musa: "Eh."
Kgomotso: "Can you take me home since this guy is not picking up?"
Right now these missed calls look like a sign that he might not even be fetching me from work.
Musa: "Haike. Pack up then, let's go."
Kgomotso: "Thank you, my friend."

The conversation with Musa seems to be flowing, which surprises me. I only know him as a colleague and getting to know him with this conversation is actually really cool. At first I thought Musa was this arrogant guy who would always show off with his sketches. Before I came in the mix, he was the only designer. He was uncomfortable with the idea of having a partner to design with. Well, that's what he told me.
He tells me he loves his daughter very much and he's the one taking care of her because the mother is a flight attendant and is away most of the time. They're not married yet. According to Musa, he wants to pay lobola first before proposing. I mean, it is the right thing to do.Musa: "And when are you planning on having kids?"
Kgomotso: "When ubabakhe and I get married." I say with a smile on my face.
Honestly, the thought of me having giving birth to Lesego's children makes me smile and grin. I mean, this guy has called me his wife many times which means he does intend on marrying me and having children with me.
I laugh when he laughs.
Musa: "Awu, ubabakhe is such a lucky guy, hey?"
Kgomotso: "Yazin! I see myself being Mrs Kunupi very soon!" We laugh again.
We finally makes it home after that 45-minute drive. I open the gate with the remote and he enters and parks right by the gate.
He switches off the car. Hawu?Kgomotso: "And then?"
Musa: "I'm here to escort you to the door because that's what a gentleman does?" He asks like I'm supposed to know that.
I've realised that Lesego is a jealous man so him seeing me with another man might get him a little worked up.
Kgomotso: "Musa, I'm fine. Please."
Musa: "KG. You know I don't take no for an answer."
Kgomotso: "Musa. Please."
I don't know why we're even bickering about this right now. I just want to be in my bed.
Musa: "Please. That's what a gentleman does."
I give him a blank stare until he opens the door and leaves to open mine. I have hands too, you know?
Musa: "Damn! And exactly how rich is your man?"
Kgomotso: "Apparently he can buy the whole Sandton if he wants to."
That's what Kaone told me the day before we left Hartswater. We were talking about how each brother was monied and when we got to Lesego she says that he's so rich that he can buy the whole of Sandton, all without a matric. I figured he doesn't have a matric after the second brother exposed him while they made ruckus the first day I was there.
They're uncivilised humans, really. All of them. Even Lesego.Musa: "Was that so hard?" He asks once we reach the door. "I',mma leave you here. Sharp neh?"
Kgomotso: "Okay, bye."
I watch him take a long walk back to his car that's by the gate.
He's gone.
Hawu? The door is locked?
Aowa bathong.
The keys are not in my handbag?
Shoot!"Lesego! Lesego," I call out as I knock. "Lesego!"
Still, no answer.
Hayi, let me call him again. As I put the phone against my ear, I hear the door unlocking.
So he locked it?
I put the phone back in my bag and when I look up I'm met up with eyes full of rage.
I don't even know what to say. Before I utter a word, he grabs me by my yellow hoodie and pulls me close to him.
I'm scared and frightened.Kgomotso: "Lesego." I say with a tiny voice, begging for his mercy.
Still, no answer.
I feel two slaps and by the second one, I fall flat on the floor with shock and tears.
Kgomotso: "Lesego…"
Lesego: "I call you four times and you don't answer me and next thing I see you with another man?!"
Kgomotso: "I can explain!" I say hailing.
Lesego: "Explain..." The first kick is on my right arm which is against the floor, "... what?!" The second kick is on my stomach.
Two more kicks on my stomach and I'm left in pain.
Kgomotso: "I'm sorry!" I say crying.
He aggressively grabs my hoodie again.
Lesego: "You'd better be. Nx!"
He drops me again.
Footsteps fade as he disappears into the distance and I'm left on the kitchen floor crying and in disbelief.
I don't understand, he said he'd never do it again.
