Rythian’s POV
I never realised how well Lewis could sing. As we walked out of the classroom, I pulled him to one side.
“You are amazing. I wouldn’t want you to get on the wrong side of me.” I walked away from him and caught up to Zoey. I hugged her and she hugged me back, this was as close as I could get.
“What did you say to Lewis?”
“I told him he was amazing. Just like you.” I tapped her nose and she giggled. I smiled at her. “I’m glad you’re my friend Zoey. We make a great team.” We walked down the hallway, laughing and chatting. I could sense Duncan behind us, he wasn’t happy. We were blocked by Sips and Sjin.
“Hey! Airy Fairy! Where are you going?” Sjin taunted. I could feel the anger. “What’s wrong? Is the fairy too wimpy to do anything?”
“Yeah, are you going to grow some plants with your magic?” Sips set off laughing at his joke. Zoey looked at me; I think she could see the anger.
“Rythian, don’t do it.” I couldn’t stop it. I held out my hand and Sjin flew across the hall. Then Sips went to run but I sent him along with Sjin.
“Don’t test me. I won’t hesitate to do it again.” I walked past the shocked Sjin and Sips. They looked at me as they tried to get up. I turned to them. “Seriously, don’t.” I walked off with Zoey. Martyn and Toby went to help Sips and Sjin, I sighed, why would they do that?
“Rythian, what happened? You were so calm.”
“Zoey, just... just don’t.” I walked with her hand in mine. We reached art and started straight away on the Ender Dragon painting. “I’m going to look for the End Portal.” Zoey almost wrecked the whole painting.
“What?” She turned to me; I had no emotion on my face.
“I have to, if I’m to gain any respect and an army then yes. I must.” I carried on painting, ignoring the shocked look on her face. “I’m going no matter what.”
“I’m coming with you.”
“What? No you’re not. You’ll get hurt, I can’t afford for that to happen to you. You’re staying here.” I looked at her. “You are staying here.” She went to protest. “Zoey! You are staying here. End of!” I went back to painting the shading on the dragon’s wing and tail.
“Rythian... what will I do without you?”
“I don’t know. You will have to... I’ll be back soon.” I grabbed Zoey’s hands. “I promise I will be back soon.” I pulled her into me. “I promise.” I heard her start to cry into my chest. “Zoey, I promise.”
“I know, but what if something happens to you?” At that moment I knew she cared.
“If something happens to me, I want you to carry on with your normal life. Like I wasn’t here.” I lied; I didn’t know what she should do.
“Ok.” She continued to hug me. “I love you Rythian.”
“Do you really mean that?” I felt her nod into my chest. “I love you too.” I heard her cry even more. “Nilesy can we go, we’ll come back.” He nodded. I escorted Zoey outside. “Zoey, I have to do this. I have to.” She pulled away from me; her face was covered in tears and her red hair a little messier.
“No, no you don’t. It isn’t real. It’s all a myth! Please don’t go!” I let go of her. “Rythian!” She hit my chest. “Rythian, you listen to me right now. You are not leaving me! You are not leaving me here on my own!” I was stunned; I couldn’t believe she had just talked to me like that.
“Zoey...”
“No! Rythian! You have to stay here.” I walked back through the hallways. I heard her chasing me. She grabbed my top and pulled me back. “Rythian please don’t do this.” I turned and grabbed her shoulders.
“What don’t you get? I’m going Zoey, there’s nothing you can do to stop me! I still love you; I’m just going to be gone for a while. You will have to put up with it for a while. I will be back I promise.” She started to cry, I pulled her into me again. “I promise.”
“Ok Rythian. I trust you.” She hugged me tightly. “Right we have art to do, let’s go!” I dragged her down the hall, to the classroom where art was.
“Zoey, come here.” I pulled her into me. “This is for you, a going away present.” I pulled her closer and kissed her on her lips. “We have a some painting to do.” I walked inside, and Zoey followed happily.
“Are you two ok now?” We nodded and continued painting. We finished the painting just as the bell went for the end of lesson. Nilesy came over and inspected the painting. “Well done! This can go on display, if you want.”
“Yes! Yes! Let’s put it on display.” I nodded, making Zoey squeal. She ran out, leaving me in the room with Duncan.
“You better watch out Rythian. Zoey’s mine.” I smiled.
“No, she is no one's property, she's a human being.” I walked out. Duncan grabbed me and punched me to the floor. “Duncan! Stop! Stop! Please.” He punched me until I couldn’t fight back.
“You’re in for it now.” He punched me again and again and again.
“Duncan... Please stop.” He started to punch faster; I was losing the ability to stay awake. “Duncan please stop.”
“This is because you took Zoey.” He punched me one last time and I blacked out.
