Rythian’s POV
We were busy preparing for the baby’s arrival. Zoey was decorating the baby’s room and I was talking with Teep. Just to be sure he wouldn’t harm the baby. He agreed. I walked around fixing some things up and making some things for the baby.
“I’m going to teach this baby everything about magic.” I said as I walked in behind Zoey.
“Well, I’m going to take him to see Duncan who will teach the baby science.” I froze at his name.
“Are you sure that he won’t do anything to our baby? It’s Duncan and I’m not so sure that he’s on our side right now.” She sighed. “What?”
“I’m going to ask you to do something.”
“No.”
“I want you to go somewhere.”
“No, Zoey.” I could see where this was going.
“I want you to go and make a truce with Duncan.” I fell to the floor dramatically. She just looked at me.
“No. No. No. No. No. No.” I lay on my back as Zoey looked at me.
“Go.” I reluctantly got up. “And be nice.” I huffed and flew towards Duncan’s castle. I landed on the castle wall.
“Duncan. Duncan!” He walked out from his castle, brandishing his sword. “I’m not here to start anything. I want to call a truce, well Zoey not me.”
“Why? Why the sudden change of heart?” I saw Lewis in the corner of my eye.
“Hi Lewis. Anyway, Zoey’s pregnant and she wants to call a truce so that she can bring the baby to you for scientific knowledge. She wants the baby to be a techno mage or something.” I saw Duncan smile. “I assume you know what that means.”
“Yeah, science and magic together.” The thought of that burned into me. “I would be happy to call a truce with you guys.” He smiled and gestured for Lewis to come out. I watched Lewis as he walked out to Duncan’s open arms.
“Hi Rythian.” Lewis seemed nervous. I smiled at this. I waved and he flinched a little.
“Not going to hurt you.” He nodded and I looked to Duncan. “So we agree on this?” Duncan nodded. I started to fly when Duncan grabbed my hand.
“If you start anything I will destroy you.” I glared at him.
“Well, I will do the same to you three times over.” He laughed and I just stared at him; I saw Lewis look at me with panic on his face. Duncan let go of me and I flew back to Zoey. “Zoey?”
“In here.” I walked into the room she was decorating for the baby. She had made everything science and magic related. Lapis and wires were everywhere. “What do you think?” I looked at it in awe.
“It’s brilliant.” I walked up behind her and rested my head on her shoulder. I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her neck. “Duncan agreed and I think him and Lewis are together.”
“What, really? I have to go see them.” I sighed.
“Right now?” She smiled and kissed me. I deepened it. “Do you have to go right now?” She smiled at me.
“Yes, well soon. I promise I’ll be careful. I promise. You do trust me right?”
“Of course I do. I just didn’t want you to get hurt. You’re my Zoey. My beautiful, amazing Zoey. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and I’m glad that you’re my partner. I’m glad that we are together. Just... be careful. Please, be careful.” She smiled and kissed me. “I love you Zoey.”
“I love you too.” She knows how I feel about her and she knows how to butter me up. “I will do something for you later.” She smiled and kissed me deeply.
“Do you promise to look after yourself? I’m still unsure about Duncan and his castle. I just don’t feel all that keen on him or Sjin. I know he hasn’t bothered us in years but... I’m still not sure.” She smiled and hugged me.
“If anything happens, I know what to do. I can get out of there pretty quickly for pregnant girl.” I smiled. I love how she makes the best of things.
“Just be very careful please.” She gave me one more kiss and headed out of the door. I flew over to Ravs’ bar with Teep; he was getting large now. We arrived at the bar. “Ravs! Hello how’s business?” He turned and looked at me.
“Rythian! Teep! Things are well. Would you like a drink?”
“Yeah please.” He handed me a drink while he and Teep played the ‘Lever Game.’ I watched them and smiled as two of my best friends were playing together. “Ravs I’m going to have a few more drinks then head home. Teep can stay here if he wants.” Teep looked at me and nodded. I smiled and drank a little more. I drank until I could just about tell where I was going. I staggered home. I walked through the door and fell on the floor almost immediately. I got up carefully and lay in bed. I was woken up by the door opening. “Zoey? Is that you?” They didn’t answer. “Zoey?” I walked downstairs. I walked to the front door, no one was there. As I turned to go back upstairs someone grabbed me from behind. I fell to the floor. As I looked up, Sjin’s face was above me looking smug. “I should have known it was you.”
“Yeah, and now I’m going to take you from everything. I doubt you can do anything from the amount you have drunk, you’re way too inebriated.” He laughed and dragged me away. I kicked trying to get away. Sjin flew into the sky and he stayed at Blackrock long enough for me to see Zoey come home.
