Rythian’s POV
I reached the hospital; I’d found out that Duncan had been put in it. I walked through the hospital doors and saw halls of white, filled with injured people. I only wanted Duncan. I walked into the lift and pressed the button. I stood in the lift as it rose up the few floors that there were. I arrived on the floor and walked out.
“Hello sir, who are you visiting today?” A nurse asked me.
“Duncan Jones.” She led me to the room.
“Duncan, there’s someone here to see you.” Duncan turned to look at us. I raised my eyebrows as the nurse left.
“R... R... Rythian, what are you doing here?” I sat next to him and crossed my arms.
“I came to see you. I wanted to see how badly you were doing.” I smiled under my mask. “As I see by your good health, I’m not impressed or happy.” He looked at me in pain. “You know why I’m here don’t you?”
“To make sure I’m ok and getting better.” I laughed.
“Nice try but no.” His eyes closed. “You can’t escape it. As soon as you leave here, I will hunt you down.”
“Please don’t do this. Please.”
“But I have to do this. I need to.” He shook his head. “Yes, the inevitable will come to you. You. Will. Fall.” He whimpered. I walked out.
“Rythian. If this is going to happen, please don’t hurt Lewis. Please.”
“If he gets in the crossfire, I will have to.” I walked out, leaving him in shock. I walked down the hallway and passed Lewis. “Hi Lewis, I was just visiting Duncan.”
“What? Why were you doing that?”
“To check on his state.” He glared at me.
“Don’t you dare hurt him, I will end you.” He walked past me and I started laughing. I walked into the lift. The doors started to close when a hand stopped them. I thought nothing of it until Lewis was stood there, anger all over his face.
“What?” He walked into the lift.
“Stop whatever you have done, now!”
“What have I done?” I looked into his eyes and could tell that he wasn’t happy. “What is it?
“Duncan, he’s dying. There are nurses there but they can’t do anything. Stop what you have done!”
“I haven’t done anything.” Lewis was crying.
“Please Rythian.” His eyes were filled with tears. “Please.” I nodded; he dragged me to Duncan’s room. We weren’t allowed in so we stood outside.
“Lewis, I have to get in there. I can’t do anything from out here.” Lewis went white. “I’m sorry.”
“Get in there. Haven’t you got an invisibility spell or something?” I searched through my alchemy bag and pulled out a vial. “What’s that?”
“Invisibility potion.” I downed the whole thing and then Lewis panicked a little. I walked into Duncan’s room and stood over him. I pulled out my life stone carefully; making sure no one saw it and placed it on his heart. “Terug te kom en saam met jou minnaar, sluit aan by die wêreld weer. Verlaat nie jou lewe agter, sluit aan by die wêreld weer.” I whispered. Duncan coughed and I walked outside just as the potion wore off.
“Thank you so much.” Lewis pressed his hand up against the window as Duncan looked at him.
“I cannot protect either of you. One day I will be back to kill you both. It is inevitable.” Lewis looked at me in shock. “If I don’t kill you someone else will.”
“But you just saved him.”
“The only thing I will do for you.” I turned and walked away.
“You only care about yourself don’t you! Never anyone else. You’re so spiteful.” I turned to him.
“That is bullshit! I care about Zoey! She is the one thing in my life I would die for.” I walked away to the sound of him and Duncan talking happily. I walked away from the hospital and heard an explosion. I turned to see the exact room Duncan was in go up in flames. I ran back inside. I promised Duncan one thing. I ran up the stairs as fast as I could and to Duncan’s room. Lewis was on the floor unconcious. I grabbed him under his arms and wrapped my arms around his chest. I dragged him into the hallway. I looked back in the room, Duncan was gone there was no way of saving him now. I gave Lewis a note and walked away. I went back in and picked up Duncan then jumped from the window and ran. I ran back to the stronghold and placed Duncan on the floor of the magic room. Zoey walked in to see if it was me. She screamed.
“Rythian what happened?”
“There was an explosion at the hospital. In one room. Duncan’s.” She gasped. “Get the emergency magic things.” She ran to the chest and grabbed the stuff, she started to work on Duncan. I stepped back and looked for a different spell. I walked ove holding my life stone. “Ready?” She nodded and I began. “Hierdie wonde genees, hulle terugbring. Moenie toelaat dat dit so gou eindig, bring die siel terug na hulle.” Duncan lay there as we waited. He gasped and coughed. Zoey carried on bandaging him. She nodded to me and I carried him into the guest room. I lay him on the bed and he woke up.
“Where’s Lewis? And why am I here?”
“Lewis is fine and I just saved your life.”
