Duncan’s POV
I ran for as long as I could, and then curled up in a ball on the floor. Rythian and Zoey were definitely gone, this means Zoey won’t be back. I have to stay strong and carry on with a way to stop Rythian. I ran home and stormed into the house and up to my room.
“Duncan, is everything ok?” I heard Brent say.
“Fuck off!” I slammed my door and locked it. I heard a rapping on the door.
“Duncan that is no way to speak to your father.” That was it; I’d had enough.
“You aren’t my parents! Leave me alone!” I went back to making the thing that will stop Rythian in his tracks. I had mixed so many different chemicals; I didn’t know what I was doing anymore. I heard more rapping on the door.
“Duncan, it’s me.” Lewis was outside. I unlocked the door, dragged him in then locked the door behind him. “Duncan what are you doing?”
“I’m making something to stop Rythian, you know this.” I wasn’t looking at him, but I could hear him sigh.
“Duncan please don’t do this. I lov- I care about you, you’re my friend and I don’t want you hurt.” I turned to him.
“Wait. What did you say? Did you say you loved me?” He went red, and then walked over to me.
“Yes.” He stood there waiting for an answer. I was too shocked to speak. “Duncan? Are you ok?” I nodded. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have told you that.”
“No, it’s ok. I’m just a little shocked.” I sat on my bed, Lewis sat by me. He was playing with his hands in his lap now. I wrapped my arm around him. “I’m just a little shocked. I do care about you, I really do.” He smiled.
“Thanks Duncan.” He hugged me, and I hugged him back. I went back to working on the thing to stop Rythian. “Duncan. Can I help you?” I nodded and he walked up next to me and started to mix things together. We worked on a potion and a weapon for the next two hours and came out with something incredible. The weapon was like a shotgun but it shot the potion in capsules. We filled tiny vials with the potion and strapped them into an ammo sheath. I strapped the gun to my back and nodded to Lewis.
“I’m ready to go.” I hugged Lewis. “Thanks for the help.” He nodded. “Lewis, come here.” I hugged him and he smiled. “Thank you.” Then I ran out and headed out of the city for the large countryside. The mountains here were crazy, they rose way above everything. I ran through everything. I saw a large black castle in the distance. That might be them. I ran through the forest that ran around until I was at the edge of the forest line near the castle. I looked around and saw Teep running around with a bow and arrow. What has Rythian done to him? I paced around to the back of the castle and pulled out some ladders and attached them to the wall. I climbed up slowly and onto the roof quietly. I looked around for a hole and slipped into it. I hid behind the wall as Zoey walked past the room.
“Rythian, have you seen my hoe? I need to farm.” She almost walked into the room I was in. I held my breath.
“Did you leave it outside?” She walked away. I sighed.
“I got it Rythian. Teep got it.” I heard Rythian laugh. I silently walked into the hallway, and then heard someone coming. I ran into the nearest room.
“Where is my other alchemy bag?” He walked into the room I was in. I was hidden behind the door. He searched through the chest in the room; I prepared the gun and went to shoot him when the gun jammed. “Why are you here?” I panicked and tried to run; he grabbed my lab coat and forced me to the ground. “Why are you here?” I punched him and ran. He ran after me, he was faster than I thought. I turned just at the right moment and shot him to the floor. He groaned and turned onto his side. I walked closer to him and prepared the gun again. He pulled my legs from under me and I hit the floor hard. He climbed on top of me and pinned me down. “I asked you a question, answer me!”
“I came to see Zoey. Is it not obvious?” I sarcastically replied. He growled. Teep came running down the hallway. He growled and pulled his bow.
“Teep, go and protect Zoey.” Teep nodded and walked away. “You have to get permission from me. Also, you broke into my house.” He tried to use his magic on me, but couldn’t. “What have you done to me?” I smiled and slowly moved the gun. Then shot him straight in the stomach. He hit the roof and fell to the floor like a ragdoll.
“I’m going to see Zoey. And the effects are only temporary.” I walked away from him. I walked out of the front door; I pulled out a tranquiliser dart and put it in the gun. Teep saw me before Zoey did, I shot him with the dart. He whimpered and fell to sleep on the floor. I walked over to Zoey and tapped her shoulder. She turned to look at me.
“Duncan. What are you doing here?” She backed away a little.
“It’s ok; I’m not going to hurt you.” She shook her head. “Really I love you, I wouldn’t hurt you.” She ran into the house. “Zoey I promise.”
“Go away Duncan!” She came back out and grabbed the sleeping Teep. I walked to the front door and left a note. It said:
Dear Zoey,
I just came to say even though I will always love you, you are better off with Rythian. You and Rythian make a good couple. I hope Teep grows up to be a great dinosaur. Will you allow me to visit sometimes? Zoey I love you. Goodbye.

I left the area and went back home. I ran into my room, locked the door and cried myself to sleep without eating anything.
