Duncan’s POV
I was in Rythian’s castle. He had saved me from an explosion, but left Lewis. I was annoyed at him for that; even though he had assured me Lewis was ok. He had his dinosaur guarding the door; giving me no means of escape. I had been burnt badly in the blaze and had bandages all over me.
“Duncan?” I heard Zoey come to the door and knock. “Are you ok? Do you need anything?” She opened the door slowly.
“I’m fine.” I turned over, wincing at the pain, and stared at the wall. The only light coming in was from the torch on the wall. I fell asleep very quickly and arrived in a nightmare.
I was running. Running from something; it looked like an army of long slender men. They had glowing purple eyes filled with hatred. I ran even faster and fell into a hole. I looked around and saw Zoey in that hole. I screamed when Zoey turned. She turned into one of them. I was pinned down by her. I struggled to get her off.
I woke up and Rythian was stood over me. I jumped at him being there.
“You ok?” I nodded. “Good. You will be able to leave soon. You will be able to leave and I can get back to being safe here with Zoey. Don’t think you are safe once you leave though.” I winced.
“Ok.” I watched him walk out and nod at Teep as he left. I sighed. I needed Lewis here right now. I missed him.
2 Months Later
I was allowed to leave today. Rythian came in with Zoey.
“You can go today Duncan!” Zoey chirped. She seemed way too happy about this.
“Is that a good thing?”
“Yeah means you can stop bothering us.” Rythian said; spite clearly in his voice.
“What does that mean for me?”
“We can get back to being enemies. I helped you because Lewis asked me. And you said to me not to let Lewis get hurt.” I nodded and got up. I almost fell over. I realized that Teep had definitely grown since I arrived here; he was at least a foot or two taller. His bandana had been adjusted. I looked at him and he growled at me.
“Alright Teep, I’m just looking.” He snarled showing his teeth.
“Calm down Teep. He’s not a threat; not at this moment anyway.” I swear Rythian smiled under his mask. I felt horror inside. He wasn’t my friend he never was.
“You can go now.” Rythian said glaring at me. His eyes followed me as I walked out. I stood at the front door. Teep nudged me out of the door, I fell onto the floor.
“See you Duncan.” Zoey said as Rythian replaced her at the door. I watched as Rythian shut the door and walked away. I saw Teep glaring at me through the door. I got up and started to walk home. I walked all the to Lewis’ house. I stood at the door thinking whether I should knock or not. I decided against it. Then I walked home. I walked into the house. I was immediately tackled by my foster mum.
“Duncan! Where have you been?” I rolled my eyes.
“Away, at a friend’s. Don’t worry.” I walked to my room.
“Duncan wait.” I ignored her and flung the door open none of my things were in here. Mona came up behind me. “Duncan...”
“WHERE IS MY STUFF?” I turned to her, anger filling my face.
“You’ve been gone for two months. We fostered someone else.” I felt unloved and alone.
“Fine. Fuck you all.” I walked out and all the way to Lewis’ house. I knocked on the door. Lewis opened the door. “Hello Lewis.” I pulled him in and hugged him.
“I missed you.” Lewis was crying. I held him for a moment.
“I missed you too.” He choked on his cries. “Calm down. I’m here now.”
“I really missed you.” He pulled away from me. “I thought you were dead.”
“Rythian and I made a small deal.” I moved into him and kissed him. He deepened the kiss, making me want more. I controlled myself. “Lewis? Can I stay here?”
“Yes, anything for my little scientist.” I wrapped my arms around his waist and he wrapped his around my neck. We stood at the door kissing. Lewis pulled away. “Come in.” I walked in and sat on the couch. Lewis sat next to me and held my hand. I looked into his eyes. Those deep forests of green that were his eyes.
“I love your eyes. They’re beautiful.” He smiled.
“I love your beautiful blonde hair. It’s grown since I last saw you; I like it.” He pulled it to one side so I had a side fringe. “There, that’s better.” I made his hair into a little quiff.
“There that’s better.” He laughed and kissed me again. “I like you with a little quiff.”
“I think we shall wear our hair like this a lot more; for each other.” I smiled and nodded. “I love your long hair.”
“I love your little quiff.” He kissed me deeply and it felt amazing. It felt like a warm feeling all the way through me.
“My parents aren’t home.” I smiled.
“Good idea.” I got up and he stood up in front of me. I picked him up around his waist and he gained support by wrapping his arms around my neck. I carried him upstairs to his bedroom.
