You're awoken to the sound of light rapping on the door, a very timid attempt to get your attention. Sitting up you rub your eyes in a daze. You take your phone out and glance the screen, several messages sitting in your notifications from various people, namely "Ava" and "Fox Boy" being the bulk of what you could see.

'I must have been exhausted...'
Your body gets to it's feet, a weight seeming to drag along in each step while a fog still seemed to surround your mind. Your feelings were more clear with the others now, the sight of Ava's name invoking an organic sigh for reasons you weren't completely sure of. Scrolling through the messages you also felt an odd sense of remorse looking at Amy's name. Despite this horrible nagging feeling in the back of your head you couldn't seem to recall anything, as if there were things you shouldn't have ever forgotten but have evaded you.

Your mind is swimming as you absent mindedly open the door, your usual caution apparently missing as your eyes meet Sonic's. You raise your brows, "Oh- I wasn't expecting you."

His tone is mellow for once, "Hey, could I come in and talk to you for a bit? There's something I've been wanting to get off my chest."

You blink a few times, "Oh, uh.. Sure. Yeah.." You stand to the side as he enters, promptly closing the door and scooting back to the bed to sit down.

Sonic looks out the window, the sunlight spilling in solemnly as it silhouetted the blue hedgehog. He sighs to himself, "I'm really glad you came back, or that you could come back I guess."

You lean back slightly, "I don't mean to sound insensitive but from my perspective I didn't go anywhere..." You pause for a moment, "I feel strange. All of this feels strange. Usually my danger sensors are going off like crazy but it's almost like they've been clicked off." You look him over, your heart steady and gentle in your chest. "I don't know why but even you aren't signaling any kind of danger response."

He chuckles gently, "Yeah I'm glad for that. You whupped mine and Shadow's butts during training anyways, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about." He looks back to you, a mellow expression on his face. "To be honest I was scared that Tails was gonna end up losing you too. The guy's parents are gone who knows where and the only friends he has are me and the others." Sonic sighs, rubbing his head a little. "Truth be told he's a lonely little guy. We have a bunch of allies that consider us to be friends but Tails is... guarded. He has been the whole time I've known him."

You nod slightly, a misplaced sadness forming in your chest. "Guarded keeps you safe, it makes sure nothing can slip in through the cracks. It's... a solitary way to live, but it has merits."

He shakes his head, "I really felt like he was coming out of his shell, and when the operation kicked off he was there communicating with everyone and- Confident you know?" His eyes shine a little as he takes in a breath. "I thought that finally he was becoming someone I knew he always would, and- Well it's because of you. You're nothing short of a miracle worker for him, and I was just.. Happy for him you know?" He bites his lip slightly, his brow furrowing deep. "And when you exploded in the sky I could see all of that confidence, that power, the... the fire in his eyes, it all just disappeared.." He walks over to the bed, sitting down beside you. "It might be weird for me to say but I'm glad we were on opposite sides before, I think Tails needed to have that with you to know he can change people's lives'."

Your heart stirs while your gaze meets his, "I don't even know who he is right now. I don't think my presence will help anything as I am now..." The knot tightens in your chest.. "What use am I if I don't remember the past..?"

He puts a hand on your shoulder, "(Y/n) you're more than a statistic or.. a price for victory to us, all of us. Whether you like it or not you're one of us now pal, you're our friend. Whether you remember or not we'd never abandon you, not really our style." He gently punches your arm, "So no more sacrificing yourself, got it? We're all in this together, capiche?" He holds a fist out to you.
