Can't Have Both

Calm before the storm

The minute Tory got up, Sensei Kim was already up and ready to start training. She changed into her gi, ready for training. 

" Nichols. You're up. Good. Get ready. Today is the day you will finally be ready for the Sekai Tekai." Kreese said when he saw them walking. As she practiced her strikes, she kept picturing those who had done her wrong. 

" Kwon, Tory, pair up." 

Kwon came to her and they started sparing.

" So, the tournament tomorrow, huh?" He said. She just nodded. She was super focused. 

" You never finished telling me about your life before the tournament." He said. Trying to strike a conversation. 

" Nothing really. I just had to work, take care of my brother, and attend school." She said. He nodded. 

" Can I ask you a favor?" She said. He nodded. Then she whispered something in his ear. He looked confused but said sure. 

"Why-" He got cut off. 

" Ok, everyone, get a partner. We're going to practice for the tournament." Kreese said.

" We are practicing." Some other student said.

" No, we're training. Now we're going to practice for the harsh obstacles. And what to do when you face a Miyagi-Do

" And kick." Johnny Lawrence shouted. 

The kids kicked.

" Forward punch." 

They punched. 

" Burpees. Again. GO"

Johnny was working them hard.

" Sensei, please. I can't anymore."

" Man up Diaz. You need to be prepared."

" Sensei, a little break?" Sam pleaded.

Johnny shook his head. 

"Sensei, 5 minutes." Devon said. Johnny wasn't listening. 

Daniel came over. He didn't like this. He wasn't sure why Johnny was pushing them so hard." Johnny, let them take a break. They need their strength and-"

"QUIET" Johnny said, shushing everyone.

" If they don't get into shape, they're going to get their asses whipped by Cobra Kai. They already got our best fighter. No way we beat them if they take little breaks. I bet Cobra Kai isn't taking breaks."

" That's what this is about." Daniel said getting upset.

" I'm just saying. "

" Sure you are."

" Yeah, well what are you gonna do about it?" Johnny asked. Face to face with Daniel.

" Guys STOP!" Sam shouted. " FINE JOHNNY! We'll keep training. Dad, it's not a big deal. If he thinks we should train we will." She said. 

Daniel glared at Johnny before leaving them to be trained. He would train them later that afternoon. 

" COME ON!" Johnny shouted. " You don't got all day. BURPEES!"

Cobra Kai had nonstop training. 5 second water breaks every other hour. They got to eat lunch but went right back to it. 

Tory looked at Sensei Kim. How had she even been convinced to join with that bitch on her team? It was all a memory now :

Tory had gone to Kreese and he had told her his plan.

" She's really going to be my sensei?" She said. She had vented to Kreese when he was in prison about her hatred for her. 

" Tory, I know this will be weird, but give her a chance. Silver was in charge when she was your sensei. Now?  She's under a better... influence." Tory sighed unconvinced. But if this meant getting into the tournament she was in.

Later that day they flew to Korea where Tory met Kim for the first time since Silver was arrested.

" Sensei Kim." Was all she said when she first saw her. Kim turned.

" Nichols. So you joined." She smiled. " How's your hand?" She asked. 

Tory wanted to reply with a snarky reply, but held back. " Better. " She said. After losing her mom, she needed to win for her, so if she had to be polite to her new sensei, so be it.

Robby was exhausted. He should have gotten more sleep and was regretting it. He was going to sleep well that night. He was sure. 

His dad had just said they could end training. It was 5.

" You guys are ready. Remember. This tournament will throw things you've never encountered. Be ready for it. 

They nodded. 

" Now, eat and get a good night's sleep. You'll need it. "

Robby walked off with Miguel and Sam. 

" Sensei's really working us hard." Miguel commented. Robby nodded. 

Sam said, " We'll win." Sam was trying to stay cheerful. She could tell how bad tomorrow was going to go. Especially with Robby as captain, being lovesick for Tory.

"Yeah, with the intense training from my dad, nothing stands in the way." Robby said. Sam smiled.

" That's the spirit." 

They walked to a restaurant near the hotel with Devon, Eli, and Demetri. They ate, and talked, and joked about who would win. And it almost cheered Robby up. 

Almost.

The day of the tournament came.

Tory saw the Miyagi Do's. Again she had to face them. All they did was harm to her mental health. She saw Devon, and they both attempted to smile at each other, but in their states it was hard to. Then, Tory saw Robby. He was staring at her. That was when she knew. He loved her. But she was panicking. She couldn't. No way she could fight with him there in love with her.

That was the moment she knew she had to do it. She turned to Kwon.

" Kiss me." He just looked at her and she dove in. He reacted. He pulled her in. They had been planning this. They had practiced to make it look like they had been together the time she was away from Robby.

She stopped and stared at Robby.

He was heartbroken. She saw him wipe a tear and look away. The damage was done. No way they would win.

But deep down what she was really thinking was, No way he will get back with me.

She turned. Starting to regret her decision.
