They made it. It was the 2nd day. None of the Miyagi Do's were eliminated yet. They all knew it would changed. All the mediocre teams were gone. Now it was the tough ones.
This was the first fight Robby had to focus. But he couldn't with Tory near. She was fighting someone else pretty close. He kept wanting to look, but couldn't. He would have lost. He tried. He really did to accept that she was on the other team. They could win together. They could. Or he could keep thinking about her and lose his fight.
Get your head in the game, he told himself. He punched. Miss. He blocked. Barely got it. He kicked. Blocked.
You and me on the podium.
He kept playing that in his head, as he won this match. He advanced, knowing Tory was aware.
-------------------------------------------------------
Tory had broken many promises. She had been blamed for many things. She had been responsible for way to many things. She used the anger she felt, toward Miyagi-Do, toward life, to keep getting through opponents.
She was planning to keep her promise with Robby. She wouldn't lie this time. She wouldn't break her promise. She hadn't spoken to any of them, since her phone call on Devon. If she did she wouldn't have the energy to compete. She would be too focused. She tried her best to avoid them, but her plans always failed. She was worried about him. She knew he would try, and he wouldn't quit until he won.
-------------------------------------------------
Devon was winning. She had started her fight with 1-0. She was fighting someone from Japan. She didn't know who. It was a girl.
The girl also used blocking techniques to try to gain points. Devon didn't know why she was trying. She shouldn't have been there. She looked over. Demetri had lost. Daniel was over there comforting him, probably telling him it was alright. He had always liked Demetri. It made Devon upset, because he would never care for her how he cared for him. She had found his list of who he thought should go to the Sekai Tekai, and her and Tory weren't on it.
Her thoughts were clouding her head. She was being careless as she fought the girl. The girl performed a move she had never seen before. Before she knew it, she saw black.
-------------------------------------------------
Tory was the first one to her side. Followed by Robby. Tory shouldn't have been there. She had ended her fight, was watching Devon's, her sensei's were with Kwon, in another room for his fight, and she was their enemy.
But she was there. She recognized that kick. It was one of the ones her sensei had used on her during the summer, at the old Cobra Kai dojo. The girl got disqualified for an illegal kick. Devon had blacked out.
Tory had tears in her eyes. She grabbed Devon. Robby was next to her, but was focused on Devon.
" It's not her fault." He said suddenly. He was crying.
He wanted to hurt the girl who hurt Devon. He wanted to find the girl. As he was standing up, Tory grabbed him.
" No, Robby." She said. Tears falling down her face. " Wait till the paramedics come." The other Miyagi-Do's found out as they came.
Devon advanced to the next match, but was but in the medical room.
---------------------------------------------------------
Not again. Tory thought. If Devon wasn't ok she was going to kill her. She told her not to fight. She had warned her, but she didn't listen. She couldn't lose someone she cared about. And now her worst fears were coming true. Sensei Lawrence, Larusso, Robby, and Demetri were there. None of them talked to Tory, except Robby who didn't get much of a response, but they were shocked she was there. She was sitting beside Devon. The others were behind. Sam, Miguel, and Hawk, weren't done with their fights, but would probably be done soon. She would have to leave by then anyway. Kwon would be done around when they are. And she couldn't risk her sensei's, knowing she was with the enemy.
Devon's eyes popped open. The first thing she saw was Tory, with Robby. They were close, but other people she couldn't see yet were also there. Maybe that's why their hands were practically touching, but weren't combined.
She saw who the others were. Daniel and Johnny were talking to some medical person, and Demetri was in the corner, on his phone.
"Ha." She silently laughed at him. But then she realized she might have lost too.
" Devon?" Tory whispered.
" Tor-" " Sshhh." She said, putting a finger to her mouth. She tilted her head to the others and Devon understood.
" Hey, you ok?" Robby whispered. Devon nodded.
" Don't know what happened." She whispered back. " I think I got knocked out."
" The other person used an illegal kick. She's disqualified." Tory whispered. Devon sighed in relief. The others were still talking so Tory took advantage of this.
" I told you you could get hurt." Devon looked away.
" I wasn't going to. I just... I didn't think it would be bad. But I'm going to keep fighting, and if I get out, I'll get out. But if I can make it... I'll try." She said, barely above a whisper.
" Lee, I don't want you getting hurt. " She said. Devon nodded. " I won't." She said.
" Hey, she's awake." Johnny said.
" I'm gonna go." She whispered to Robby and Devon. She looked at Robby and said, " Take care of yourself and her. Oh and also... good luck." She said. Tory got up to leave as the others went to Devon. Robby went after her and pulled her in for a kiss. She couldn't help it. She kissed back. But it was short. She ended it and just walked away. Her sensei's were still watching Kwon. He had finished and advanced.
She sighed in relief. She didn't get caught.
