"Roses aren't always red
& violets aren't exactly blue,
the society that we live in
never seems to speak the truth.

Smiles aren't always happy & frowns aren't always upset,
people judge too quickly & our feelings are what they forget."

"Hey wake up. We gotta go soon," Miguel says as he tried to shake his sister awake. Michelle was a pretty heavy sleeper as it was, but the twins had stayed up late last night watching part 2 of their Harry Potter marathon (movies #4,5,&6), so she would need a bit more convincing to wake up.

Miguel grabbed one of her extra pillows that she threw onto the bean bag chair the night before and whacked her in the face with it. She jumped up with an angry and slightly confused face as she processed what was happening. As the realization of her brother being a jerk this early in the morning settled in her mind, Miguel had already made a run for it, making sure to slam her door shut in case she tried to run after him.

"Good morning to you too asshole," Michelle mumbled as she slowly got out of bed. She headed to their shared bathroom to get ready for the day. Today would be the first day of training with the lunatic who lived across from them. Michelle was extremely nervous about this and wondered if she should even be joining this karate thing with her brother. Not wanting to ruin the experience for Miguel with her doubts, she kept them to herself and made her way downstairs to get something in her stomach before the long day.

Miguel was already sat at the table with only half of his turkey and cheese sandwich left and a glass of orange juice next to him. He had also taken the liberty of fixing her a sandwich as well and setting a glass of apple juice next to it. This was one of the things that made them different from one another. Michelle could not stand the taste of orange juice and Miguel despised apple juice, so their mom would go out of her way to make sure they had both.

Michelle took the seat across from Miguel at the table where he had set up her breakfast. He looked up as she walked into the room.

"Good morning! I made you a sandwich for breakfast. It's the least I could do for hitting you in the face with a pillow this early in the morning. Aren't you excited for today?" Miguel said without taking a breath. Michelle giggled at her brothers antics and took a bite out of her sandwich.

"Thank you Miggy. Yeah... I'm excited," Michelle said as she took a sip of her apple juice, trying to hide the nervous sound of her voice. "I mean, what could go wrong, right?" She finished.

The twins knew each other like the back of their hands. Miguel sometimes felt as though they knew each other better than they knew themselves. So when he heard the nervousness in her voice which she tried to cover up, he knew Michelle would rather be doing just about anything else instead of doing this karate thing. He also knew that she was doing this for him and nothing would change her mind about going, even if he begged her not to go. He chose peace in that moment and decided not to say anything as they finished their breakfast.

They bid their grandma goodbye and made their way out the door with their gym bags. Their mother had left for work really early that morning. They walked the short distance to the beat down strip mall and walked into the dojo that was right next to the mini mart from the other night. There was a bell that jingled as they opened the door and made their way inside. They set their bags down near the door and proceeded to walk onto the mats waiting for the man to come out of his office.

"Get your shoes the hell off the mats! What the hell is wrong with you dipshit 1 and thing 2?" The man suddenly yelled, making the twins jump and run off the mats. Michelle rolled her eyes and made eye contact with her brother as they removed their shoes and made their way back onto the mats.
