Miguel had finally come home. He was now back in his old room after so many weeks of being stuck in the hospital and Michelle could not be happier to have him back in her life. But he was now confined to the limitations of the infamous wheelchair, which was an adjustment in itself.
Needless to say, Michelle had officially declared Miguel's bean bag chair as her own bed from the moment he rolled his ass through that door. She wanted to help him as much as possible and that included being there for him when he needed to pee in the middle of the night to make sure he didn't die before having the opportunity to relieve himself.
It seemed that everything was back to normal with the twins. They had spent the night laughing and talking and watching movies like the good old days. Not a care in the world. Just two best friends who had the privilege of being siblings.
That was, until they were woken suddenly by obnoxiously loud knocking at the front door, reminding them that it was now time for Miguel's first physical therapy appointment with Brayden.
Michelle got up quickly and busied herself with grabbing the wheelchair from the corner of the room and rolling it up against the bed where Miguel had already sat himself up.
"Okay just put you arm over my shoulder and hold on tight. Ill lift you with my supernatural strength drop you into the chair," Michelle said to him only half-jokingly. She wasn't sure if she was strong enough because her mom was the one who had gotten him to bed and to the bathroom all night but she decided that she was going to help either way.
Miguel did as instructed and held on tight as Michelle pulled him up and off the bed and guided him gently into the chair like she had seen her mom do.
"Wow, i guess the karate lessons have really paid off, huh?" Michelle laughed.
Miguel smiled up at her as he rolled himself into the bathroom.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," he said in a way to wave her off. Once he was inside the bathroom and was about to close the door, he paused and looked at her sincerely. "Thanks sis."
"Yeah. Of course," Michelle said softly. "That's what sisters are for."
With that, Miguel shut the door and Michelle went to her room to get changed.
About ten minutes later, the Diaz family could be found in the living room of their small apartment watching Brayden work his physical therapy magic.
Michelle wasn't sure what even was going on but it looked like a whole lotta nothing. But she was there to be supportive so she kept her mouth shut. After a few minutes of watching the Olympic gold medal for the biggest waste of time, she heard a loud voice coming from outside and a few seconds later, Johnny barged in, causing Michelle to cover her mouth and laugh at the look on her moms face. They clearly hadn't made up yet.
"Sorry. I thought you said 10:00 you'd be alone," He said.
"I'm sorry. My mom gets free physical therapy from work. And this was the only time that Brayden was available," Miguel replied.
"Mahalo," Brayden said to Johnny. Johnny simply squinted his eyes and looked him up and down.
Michelle snorted loudly and tried to cover it up with a cough but it was too late. Her mom had already fixed her with a mean glare that shut her right up.
