Part 15

Violet Montgomery

I woke up the next morning. Sun shining brightly through the blinds. As I came to my senses I realized the empty spot in the bed next to me. I sat up abruptly. Realizing I still had no clothes on I leaned over to the side of the bed grabbing one of nikas hoodies and basketball shorts.

I quickly got dressed before going out to the living room. I looked around the room still no sign of nika. Actually no sign of anyone. I walked into the kitchen knowing they keep a calendar of all their practices on the fridge. "Weights 9-11." That's explains where they all are.

I thought it would be kind of weird if I just stayed at the dorm while no one was home so instead I gathered my belongings and headed back to my dorm. I have practice from 2-6 tonight so I probably won't be able to see nika before then but maybe after as their regular practice ends around that time as well.

Once I got back to my dorm I texted nika. "Wanna get dinner later baby?" I didn't expect her to respond right away as she is probably hard at work lifting weights. So I took a shower to help time pass.

After I finished my shower around 11:30 I checked my phone seeing that nika had yet to respond I opened my messages app. When I opened mine and nikas messages it said that she had opened the message 30 minutes ago. Weird? Maybe she just forgot to hit send.

"Nik?" I sent another short text hoping to get her attention. But instead of a reply all I received back was being left on opened again.

Whatever I'm hungry and I don't want to deal with this right now. So I decided to head to the dinning hall and get some lunch. Once I got my food I headed back to my dorm to eat and watch a few movies before it was time for me to head to practice.

"You guys finally did it!" Kaylee said way too loudly. "Shush and yes but now she's not responsible to my texts." I said referring to the one last text I sent nika before practice saying. "Let me know. I miss you." I had sent it 15 minutes before practice and was once again left on opened.

"Maybe she's just in a mood." Avy said chiming in on the conversation. "I hope so." I said in a low sad tone. "Hey. Don't get all sad on us. You're no longer a virgin that's something to celebrate. Don't let her ruin that for you." Kaylee said. She's always my hype woman.

As we ran one final lap around the practice space to conclude practice. I stoped by the table of water bottles taking a long drink. "Hey you wanna come over for a movie night?" Avy said Kaylee standing next to her. "Umm maybe. Let me just do something real quick then I'll give you an answer." I said to them before I began to walk off.

"GO GET HER TIGER!" Kaylee said as I walked off. Once I exited our practice area into the hallway I saw Paige standing there. "Hey buckets. Is nika still here?" I said dapping her up. "Uh yea she's still in the locker room. She's in a cranky mood. No idea why." Paige said shrugging her shoulders.

See maybe she was just in a bad mood and that's why she's been ignoring me all day.

I walked through the basket ball court to the girls locker rooms. Nocking on the door before entering.

When I did enter I saw nika standing facing her cubby. She didn't even turn her head to see who was walking in. I stood against the opposite wall waiting for her to acknowledge my presence.

When she didn't and instead started gathering her things I spoke. "Hey nik. What's up." I said trying to be as cool and calm as possible. She didn't respond.

"So what did I do to deserve the silent treatment?" I said the anger in me starting to bubble. I tried to tame it as much as possible. If I was ever mouthy with Austin I would get my ass beat so hard so I guess it's just a habit.

"It's noting Violet just leave it alone." She said finally turning around to face me and slinging her bag over her shoulder. "So then do you wanna get dinner?" I said still unsure of the tense situation.

"No I don't want to get fucking dinner." She said obviously very pissed off. "What the fuck is your deal nika." I said becoming fed up with this situation and how she was talking to me.

"God Violet just leave me alone. Fuck. I should have never taken your virginity. Because all I wanted was a quick fuck and now you won't leave me alone." She said letting out an exasperated sigh.

Before I could say anything back. Not that I had any idea what to say. She stormed out of the locker room. Leaving me there looking the an idiot. Her words had hit me like a gut punch.

I thought that I had been through the worst pain of my life. But none of the things Austin did ever made me feel like this. I felt like a piece of garbage. Like I was used and discarded like nothing. I felt tears trickle down my checks as I stood there mouth wide open. Still waiting for something to come to mind. Something for me to say to make it better.

I quickly ran out of the locker room. Grabbed my things from the practice space and sprinted out to the parking lot finding avy and Kaylee siting in her car waiting for me.

I explained what nika had said her words haunting me. They were quick to tell me how I didn't deserve anything like that. How I deserved so much more. How I'm so beautiful and kind. But even after all the positive things they said to me I couldn't help feeling stupid and naïve.

How did I not see that. How did I completely miss the fact that she's not into me at all. That she just wanted me for my body. Used me for my body and nothing else. All those days we spent together. All the late night conversations about our families and friends. All of that meant nothing to her.

I'm so stupid.
