Violet Montgomery

I had just made my way back from my last class of the day. Thank god it's Friday. No game tonight because we are on that short wonderful much needed brake between fall sports and winter sports.

Basketball starts soon. And I still haven't talked to nika. I feel awful. I never meant to make her feel unwanted or like she was just a pawn. I've been throwing myself into school and cheer for the past week just trying to make it to the weekend.

And now that it's here I'm going to hole up in my room with ice cream a good book and something pumpkin flavored. And when my brain gets tired of reading I'll veg out on movies and Gilmore girls. That sounds like the most perfect week end ever.

Right as I'm climbing into my bed. Gilmore girls on in the background a spiced apple candle lit and my pjs on. I hear a knock at my door.

I quickly make my way over ready to be back in my cozy bed. When I open the door my face drops in shock at the brunette standing on the other side. She's holding a large. Not large humongous bouquet of flowers. Not just any flowers all of my favorite flowers. Daises, babies breath, hyacinths, carnations and pink roses. All wrapped up in pink paper and a white ribbon.

"Nika-." I attempted to speak before she stopped me. "Come to Say brook with me. Just for the weekend." She said her voice so nervous. "I mean I would love to but-." I tried to say back before she cut me off again. "I know things between me and you are tense. But I really want to spend time with you and this is my last weekend before basketball gets crazy. And I want to talk I swear I won't just keep things tense I just-." It was my turn to cut her off now.

"Yes I'll go." I said happily. "Really?" She questioned. "Yes now come in here so I can pack a bag." I said pulling her by her hand into my dorm. She sat on my bed as I began to dig through my closet pulling out a medium sized duffle bag.

I began stuffing the bag with clothes. Pjs, a sports bra, 4 sweaters, 2 pairs of sweats, a pair of jeans just incase, my mini uggs, socks and underwear I made sure to grab cute underwear just in case.

Nika watched me as I moved over to my vanity grabbing my toiletry bag and throwing my hair up in a claw clip. I slipped on my Uggs and threw on my light pink puffer as the Connecticut winter is begging to settle in. "I'm ready." I said as she stood up setting the flowers down on my bed.

"Wait no I want those." I said picking them up as she slung my bag over her shoulder. I held them closer to my face inhaling the sweet smell. I love flowers. I have alway believed that flowers were a way to cheer anyone up. Austin knew how much I loved them and only ever bought me them on my birthday.

I've never told nika how much they mean to me. How much I love them. How I believe they bring life into any room. And this is the second time she's gotten me flowers for no special reason.

As we settled into nikas car I made sure to gently set the flowers in the back seat not wanting them to get crushed. Nika and I sat in silence for a while before I felt like I might lose my mind. It's about an hour drive from storrs to say brook and I can't not talk for an hour.

"So do we have a hotel orrr-." I said breaking the silence. "I rented out a house. It beautiful. It looks like a cottage." She said smiling as she looked over to me. "I love that style of house. I want a house like that when I'm older." I said smiling as I looked out the window to the now setting sun.

"I know you do that's why I chose that one." She said making me smile even harder. "You're so sweet." I said reaching over to the center console and connecting our hands.
