Violet Montgomery

As me and nika unloaded our suitcases from the Uber I could feel the cold November Wyoming air on my bare arms. We had just got to my parents house opting to take and Uber so we could have a few more moments of shared kisses and loving words before we would have to hold ourselves back for the next 4 days.

We made our way up the driveway which is long and paved thankfully. Once we reached the doors to the house. Nika whispered to me, "you didn't tell me your parents are loaded." I laughed at her comment before reaching a pressing the door bell twice.

When the doors swung open there was my sister Vivian. She pulled me in for a tight hug. Considering the fact that I don't see my family very often I didn't mind this much at all. "Oh my little sister I missed you so much." She said pulling away and keeping me at an arms length.

She then turned to nika. "You must be nika. I'm so glad you're the one who helped her dump that asshole Austin. I never like him anyway." Vivian said reaching in and hugging nika. "Leave your bags her I'll have mark come and get them and take them to the guest house." She said as we followed her inside the house.

"LITTLE SISTER!" I heard them before I seen them. My two other big sister came rushing over and hugged me tightly. "Hey Tori, hi Val." I said as I hugged them back. Once they pulled away they said hello to nika introducing themselves.

Soon enough all three of my brother in law's walked into the entryway where we were all standing and conversing. I said hello to mark first as he's my favorite of them all. Then victor then James. After they introduced themselves to my patients was growing thin. "Ok I have a baby niece that I have yet to meet so where is she." I said eagerly.

"Come on." Vivian said leading me to the living-room. Once we entered I immediately spotted the bassinet near the couch and quickly rushed over. Once I was there I saw the beautiful baby. Her names Mila and she's almost 6 months old now. I picked her up gently. Speaking softly to her.

"Hello beautiful girl. It's so nice to meet you." I stood there saying hello to her as everybody else settled into the couch. I was so caught up looking at my beautiful niece that I hadn't even realized my mom had entered the room. "My Violet. I always knew you would be the mother out of your sisters. The pastor used to say your heart was so pure that's why the children loved you." She said as she gently placed a hand on my shoulder.

I knew she meant this as a compliment but I know I have a greater purpose in life than just to be a mother. My mother does not know that. When I graduate next year I will have a higher level of education than my mother and all of my sisters. That doesn't mean I don't want to be a mother. Of course I want children but not with a man.

"Hi mom." I said not tearing my eyes away from my niece. "You must be nika. Your friends with Azzi right. She's a sweet girl." My mother said walking over to the couch and hugging nika. "She's one of my good friends we play basketball together." Nika said sitting back down on the couch. "Women playing a men's sport. Never sits right with me." My mom said shaking her head disapprovingly.

I took a seat next to nika on the couch. Still holding Mila. I could feel her dark brown eyes glued to me as I smiled down at Mila. "Do you want to hold her?" I asked her opening my arms. She just nodded her head and I passed Mila over to her. "Where's dad?" I said turning to look at my mother.
