Violet Montgomery

"Come on I want to dance." I say close to nikas ear. We've been at this party for about two hours now and have had plenty of drinks. She nodded her head after hearing my words.

I stood up off her lap adjusting my black mini skirt. She held me by my hand. Keeping me very close to her to not loose me in this very crowded house.

Once we reached the middle of the room. I began to sway my hips to the beat of the music that seemed to be pulsing through the house. Nika kept a close hold on my hips moving her hips against mine.

She gently brushed my hair to the side some pieces sticking to the back of my neck. This gave her full access to my neck as my head was already tipped back resting on her shoulder. She began to gently nip and pull on the exposed skin.

Something about this girl she knows how to make me crazy. As we continued to dance I got lost in our fluid movements. I felt all my worries and stress anxiety washing away as soon as nika lays a hand on my body.

Soon we were interrupted by a girls bumping into me causing her drink to spill all over my shoes. The girl looked very familiar. Short brown hair and blue eyes. Those blue eyes. Makenzie Lyle's. Also know as Austin's twin sister.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry. Oh hey Violet what's up." She said her tone bitch as usual. She and I never got along in the 4 years I've known Austin and the 3 that we were together we never once like each other.

She always had this weird claim over him. Wearing matching outfits or his jersey to his football games. Matching Halloween costumes and weird couple shit. It's like if you have a weird thing for your twin brother just say that.

"Makenzie what are you doing here." I said and as the words came out of my mouth nika pulled me closer to her planting a kiss on my cheek. This caused Makenzie to look between the two of us and start laughing.

"This again vi. Seriously. You know you two will be back together in a week." Her words causing a sour look to come across nikas face. "No we won't but thanks." I said attempting to turn away and walk off.

"Oh come on. You say it yourself all the time. You just like to have fun. Like that weekend in Vegas." Her words are harsh and bitter as I continue to walk off pulling nika behind me.

When we finally make it outside nika stops me turning me around and coming face to face with me.

"What was she talking about Violet." She asked her voice confused.

"Nothing just before you I never. I don't know. I would kiss girls when me and Austin would go on breaks and then we would get back together." I said my words coming out hurried and embarrassed.

"So that's all I am to you." Nika asked her face contorting into a sad and angry expression. "No no nika. I'm never going back to him. I just I don't know about my sexuality. It's hard and confusing. And I know my family wouldn't accept me. That's why I stayed with Austin so long." I said trying to explain myself.

"Well I can't do that. Not again. If you can't figure yourself out then we can't be anything." She said bitterly. "Nika what are you talking about again. You know I would never mean to hurt you. I have feelings for you and I'm not just gonna go back to being straight again." I said laughing humorlessly.

"It's not that easy Violet. I've been through this before. You tell me you like me. You get what you want and when I get comfortable you leave and go back to your boyfriend and your simple life. I also have basketball. I know Austin did horrible things to you. But you ruined his career. He will never play again." Her words hit me like a slap to the face as I felt tears begin to trickle down my cheeks.

"No Austin ruined his career. I just exposed his true colors. He made me hate my life he hurt me beyond belief. Physically and mentally. He didn't deserve his career after the things he did to me. I can't believe you would say that nika." I said gripping my chest as I felt my breaths become short and uneven.

"Violet you know I didn't mean it like that." She said trying to calm me down. "Don't call me that you never call me that." I said referring to the repeated use of my full name. "Vi please you can't expect me to not get upset when you don't even know if you're gay. What if you're just using me. How am I supposed to know." She said raising her voice slightly causing me to flinch.

"I know that I like you can't that just be enough for you." I said raising my voice back hoping to distract her from my pervious reaction.

"No fuck Violet no that's not enough." She said her voice sounding exasperated like she was trying to stop herself from yelling.

"Fine then I guess that's it." I said turning on my heel and beginning to walk away.

As I walked on I hoped I would hear her voice call out for me. To stop. To listen. To hear her out. But as I kept walking and I got closer and closer to my dorm. I kept that hope in my heart until I laid face down in my bed. Still silently hoping to hear a knock on my door. To see her standing there with flowers ready to apologize and talk it out.

But that voice. That nock never sounded.
