UNIVERSE: Moon AU (Four is the human, Three is the monster)
~~~
"Who?" SMG4 asked. "I-if... you remember. Or if- if you want to talk about them, of course-"
"It's okay," Three assured him. "I... I don't remember a lot about that person. I just know that you seem a lot like him sometimes."
Three sat up on top of their pile of 'treasure' before looking back at SMG4. "You... wanna hear the story of how I got like this?"
"Uh, yeah. Sure, if you... if you want to."
~~~
I felt wrong, like I could barely breathe in the thick goop that I was sinking in. I threw words from hy heart, stringing them together in an attempt to create meaning, in an attempt to save myself. To save the Italian and the squid. To save the perfectionist.
I barely had time to plan what I was going to say next, whenever I had to give him a new sentence. Why was I even here in the first place? How did I even let him get to this point...?
There he was, trembling as he tried to fight back. But his hands stayed on the keyboard, typing away, deleting, redoing- it wasn't good enough, it never was for him. Or... whatever was pretending to be him right now.
I saw the fear in his blank eyes that said he didn't want this to happen, that he desperately wanted this to stop. I forced a weak smile as I finished spouting my un-thought-out words that had no effect on him. Please. Please, wake up, F̶o̶u̶r̶...
And, somehow... it worked. It worked! My idiotic plan had worked. Somehow.
And I was safe. We were safe!
"S̶M̶G̶4̶,̶ bro! You're back!"
I almost had to physically restrain myself from tackling him to the ground in my hug. But that would be weird- Not to mention, we had to get out of here soon. We spent a minute saying how happy we were to have him back, before setting our sights on the exit.
No more time to waste. The other two left, and I was about to as well, but then-
Swoosh-!
I don't remember a lot after that. That's where it got foggy.
It happened so fast. I barely remember what I did, but... somehow I managed to stop whatever had its grip on my friend. But... he looked messed up now. His face. Lapisblood skin comes in all colors and textures, but...
~~~
"Are you okay?" SMG4 asked.
"...don't worry. It's nothing."
"But you-"
"I think-" SMG3 said, "it was... pink. His face," SMG3 fidgeted with his claws, "glowed pink."
~~~
̶
S̶M̶G̶4̶ cried out in pain. Bright neon pink was unnatural to see on a human, and... it probably felt unnatural, too.
No time- keep going. You're almost out. You're gonna make it out alive, T̶h̶r̶e̶e̶... don't worry...
He jumped out the window with F̶o̶u̶r̶, expecting his f- his paws to hit the ground.
But nothing happened.
Suddenly, he felt a strong grip on his hand. F̶o̶u̶r̶ caught him, thank the meme gods...
Wait...
Why didn't he f̶̭̃l̸̝̈y̸̯͑ ̶̧̔o̶͚̾ṵ̵̏ẗ̷͈, with his w̶̖͘i̵̱̅n̵͕͒g̴͕͠ş̴͒...?
His... w̶̖͘i̵̱̅n̵͕͒g̴͕͠ş̴͒...
~~~
"Hey, man, a- are you okay?" SMG4 asked, placing a hand on SMG3's shoulder.
"I'm- don't worry about me. I'm not worth your... your concern. It's just a story."
"No, Three," SMG4 said to him. "You're going to stop now. It's okay. You don't need to finish your story if you have to remember more than you can-"
"It's not that! It's like... it feels wrong, and different, like... I'm remembering it wrong... or..."
"Don't worry about it, Three. Uh... it's getting to be sunset. I'd better... go home. Take care of yourself, okay?"
And with that, SMG4 rushed out of Three's home.
Oh. Well, he can't say he didn't expect that.
...
What was wrong with him...?
Why didn't he just fly?...
...
It's better to forget that ever happened.
It wasn't the time to remember yet.
A/N: Everyone, praise this song by The Crane Wives for helping me write both "Talk [Well]" and this chapter. I put it on loop and managed to get 2 parts of this shitty little AU, so now we must worship the song /j
Bi bi now :D
