aurora had been tossing and turning in her bed for what felt like forever. it was three in the morning and she was trying to go back to bed but it wasn't working. she had sat up on her headboard and rubbed her eyes. she pulled the covers off of her body and got up from the bed. she walked down the hallway slowly and quietly so she wouldn't wake anyone up.

she had made it into the kitchen and turned on the lights. when she looked up and saw somebody standing by the island she had jumped only to find out it was just her mom. she had seen her mothers outfit and it looked like she was out at a club all night "mom? what are you doing it's three in the morning". aurora asked sounding relieved that it wasn't a stranger in her house. "rors baby what are you doing down here" her mom asked basically repeating the same thing aurora said not answering the question.

aurora looked at the women confused as her words came out slurred. her mom had stumbled trying to walk over to aurora a couple times before reaching her. aurora could smell the alcohol on her which made aurora internally groan. the woman had put her hands on auroras face making aurora awkwardly stare at her. "you look so pretty. you took my whole face" the woman complimented making aurora cringe.

she looked at the floor as her mom continued to ramble on about different things. aurora had gotten loose from her grip so she could get the woman a glass of water. aurora wanted her to sober up as soon as possible. she got her some ice water and put it in her hands. "here drink it" aurora told her making her moms face soften. "thank you baby. you've always been so sweet, but that other boy i didn't know what to do with him" aurora is physically cringed at the comment her mom had made about her brother. "rory you really are my golden child"

aurora chose to ignore every word her mom said. she knew she wouldn't have said anything like this if she was sober. maybe it would mean something to aurora if her mom wasn't drunk out of her mind. "you know rory, i never wanted to leave you guys. i wanted to be able to watch yall grow up and take care of yall" her mom expressed making aurora want to bust out into tears of both sadness and anger. her mom dosent even know what she's saying. "you don't mean that" aurora said almost under a whisper.

"if it wasn't for that father of yours i would've stayed. he was always so difficult" after her mom said that it was a long silence. they both just stood there in the kitchen waiting for someone to speak up again. "you know i love you right rory" her mom asked making aurora slowly shake her head trying to fight away her thoughts. "stop it, your just drunk" aurora told the older woman.

hearing her mom say all these things to her was overwhelming to aurora. aurora hates to hear all these words come from her mom because she didn't mean any of it. all if it was fake. she was gonna go back to being the same bitter woman she really is in the morning. all of this was just front. aurora so badly wanted what her mom was saying to just be a little bit real, but unfortunately that isn't how it works.

"come on, you need to go to bed" aurora told the women helping her walk to the staircase. aurora was tuning out all of the sappy things her mom kept saying to her. they reached the bedroom and aurora put her in the bed. she left the room and closed the door before letting out a huge sigh. aurora hadn't felt so many emotions in such a long time. she felt like she was just confused, hurt, sad, and mad all at the same time.

after hours went by aurora still didn't go to sleep. the sun had rose and she heard footsteps coming from the hallway. she decided to also get up since she didn't have anything better to do. she stood up and walked over to the bathroom that was connected to her room.
