chapter 13.

Winter frantically drove as fast as he could round the lanes trying to find mias street. he knew he was near when the big posh houses started appearing. he quickly glanced over at autumn as she bit her nail. he smiled before placing his hand on her thigh "its okay my love" autumn looked up before forcing a smile "i hope so"

the rest of the ride was silent as winter quickly turned every corner. each minute autumn got closer and closer to breaking down but she had to keep it together.

back at marjorie's and reece's, reece had decided to invite over people also with envelopes including:
charlotte
sorcha
carly
he also invited autumn and winter but they had both declined.

They all sat in the living room. laughs filling the room. they had yet to face the traumatic events they may experience tonight in the very room.

reece was moving around quickly in the kitchen as marjorie watched, admiring his way of cooking. Reece dished up the food and handed a plate to each of them. sorcha pulled out a bottle of wine. "sorry carly" carly looked over at sorcha before her jaw dropped "that is not fair!" reece laughed "carly i have coke, lemonade, fanta?" carly looked over at reece "fanta please" she picked up her fork and took a small bite. the rest of the night just carried on as they each discussed different things about the nurseries. Marjorie then realised they forgot about the envelopes.

Everyone was sat in the living room discussing and laughing about some parents they had experienced in the day. marjorie interrupted everyone "guys should we open the envelopes now?" they all looked at marjorie before sorcha got up "yeah yeah let me get mine one sec guys" she walked out and returned with hers.

everyone gave each-other a nervous glance before the envelopes started to be ripped open. charlotte placed hers down "you guys carry on im going to the toilet" marjorie smiled at her "okay my love" reece nodded before starting to unfold his letter he was 2 sentences in when he stopped reading. he looked up, covering his mouth with his hand trying with all his might not to break down. everyone else knew it. except for charlotte. marjorie spoke first, filling the silence  "what will we tell charlotte.?" sorcha stood up "we cant, rinf autumn reece, now." reece immediately stood up and walked to the back door. he pulled out his phone and rung autumn.

autumn noticed her phone ringing. she was almost at mias but when she saw it was reece she had to answer. she gulped before answering it putting the phone up to her ear. "big brother." Reece could hear the sniffled and the slight upset sound of her voice. "you read the note didn't you." autumn gulped "yep, im on my way to mias." she tried to keep the tears from flowing bit it just got harder. reece looked behind him before answering "charlotte doesn't know yet but we can't tell her yet. if you get to her before" he froze "you know" autumn wiped her eyes. "take her to yours and me and marjorie will bring charlotte, please they both need to talk" autumn froze slightly at the realisation that they were almost at mias. "reece im almost at mias, but yeah whatever" reece wiped his eyes. "okay, good luck aut." the phone call ended and as soon as he heard the beep from aut hanging up he immediately tried to calm himself down.

Flashbacks started playing in his mind of him aut and mia when they were younger. mia always scaring reece and aut with her life threatening stunts, them all always having to run from the dog walkers after mia shouted the most inappropriate things at the top of her lungs. Reece could lose his childhood best friend, even if they no longer aren't on the best of terms.
