The chapter begins with Oscar standing on a rooftop of the building across the museum. "Okay, the museum's closed." He mutters. He finds a path between the rooftops and spots an open window on the museum's roof. He jumps between the rooftops and reaches the window.
Oscar climbs through and drops down in the exhibit room on the second floor. He approaches the display case with the ring and device.
He takes out the key and unlocks the case. He takes the silver ring and smiles proudly at it for a moment. Then he turns to the bronze device wheel and picks it up. The young boy looks at the hole in its center and sees how it's about the size of the ring. He tries to insert the ring in the hole and it fits. The mechanics on the device begin to function and rotate around the symbols along the edge.
"Whoa..." Oscar whispers in awe.
"Good work, kid." Roman comments. "However..."
Before Oscar can do anything else, he hears a familiar voice from off to the side.
"Damn it, kid..."
"You were caught before it even started." The Vale thief finished.
Oscar turns and is startled to see Ozpin and Salem from earlier after he got the key to the case. A pair of men in black suits and red ties are behind them and they don't look like museum security guards.
"Who are they??" Jaune asked, referring to the men in black.
"Salem's henchmen." Theo answered.
"Why, Oz, look who it is... the filthy little stray that made off with your wallet." Salem sneered, mockingly.
"Oscar, run." Summer urged, worried.
Oscar turns to the other side of the room, trying to escape, but sees two more men dressed the same blocking the other exit.
"Crap, he's trap." Tai says. "How is he gonna get out of this??"
"Well, since Oz is here, he probably wound let anything happen to him." Qrow assumed.
Ozpin walks up to Oscar with a sympathetic look. "C'mon, son. You haven't got a chance. Just hand it over." He demands.
Oscar just stands there nervously holding the device in one hand. Impatient, Salem walks up to him and snatches the device from him. She gives it to Ozpin and holds her hand out to the boy.
"Now - the ring." She orders, firmly.
Oscar still doesn't move and glares back at her. She grabs his other hand but he unfists it, revealing nothing.
He smirks. "What ring?"
Yang grins. Got em!"
Salem lets out a sinister, humorous laugh and then slaps Oscar across the face.
"Oscar!!" Ruby exclaimed, shocked.
"Salem!" Ozpin shouts, stunned.
"What the hell was that for!" Nora retorts.
"Have you lost your mind?!" Jaune cried out.
Oscar holds the side of his head in pain as Salem continues glaring at him. "Who do you think you are, boy? You're nothing but a filthy, cast off little beggar. You're not fit to touch these objects." She spat.
"And you are?" Roman questioned with a raised eyebrow. "Last time I check, you're a bunch of thieves digging around where you shouldn't."
Oscar stand ups and glares angrily at Salem, who raises her hand to hit him again.
