The chapter starts with Oscar, Ozpin, Blake and a squirming Cardin. "We can't stay here. We gotta move." Ozpin reminds them.
Blake frowns. "How?"
"Yeah, Cinder has the notebook." Yang points out. "What's your next move?"
"Our only hope is to find the crypt entrance." Oscar says.
"Which you still don;t know how to unlock." Weiss states.
"Great. Any ideas?" Ozpin asks.
"Well, Cardin was onto something - I just don't know what." Blake's says.
"The Wand of the Magician..." Cardin mumbles to himself.
"Well there's no way you're gonna get the answer out of him anytime soon." Neo says.
"Oh, man, without his journal, we're never gonna find it." Ozpin points out.
"Just let me think..." Oscar says.
"Think fast, Oscar." Jaune urged, concerned,
The treasure hunter begins muttering to himself, pacing. Ozpin and Blake keep their eyes on Cardin. "Alright. Hermetic... from the Greek, Hermes, meaning "pillar"...
"I think we got that part." Ozpin told him.
""The Seven Pillars of Wisdom"?"
"Is that a question, or an answer?" Nora asked.
"Between Mercy and Severity." Cardin mumbles.
"Wait. Wait, we've got this all wrong. It isn't the space between the pillars... it's the middle pillar." Blake realises.
"Balance..."
"What?" Ozpin asks.
"Did you figure it out already, Blake?" Kali asked, impressed.
"It was in Cardin's book. The Pillar of Balance between the two extremes. Between black and white, water and fire, female and male. The Middle Way." Blake explains.
"The Middle Way..." Cardin mutters.
"She figured it out." Ghira smiles, proudly. "Well done, Blake."
Oscar leans against the middle pillar and slowly it moves forward inwards. "That's it! Oz, give me a hand with this." With Ozpin's help, the two push the pillar all the way, creating another way to allow them through and revealing a hidden cavern. "Alright, c'mon."
"No, no, no..." Cardin mutters, moving back.
"It's okay, Cardin." Blake reassures, placing a hand on his arms and guides him forward. "C'mon, mate."
"Nothing's gonna happen to you, Cardin." Ruby assures.
Once the group is inside, Oscar pushes the pillar back, closing the entrance. Ozpin finds some torches and lights them.
"The way up and the way down are one and the same..." Cardin mutters.
"Uh-huh." Blake's replied, grabbing a torch.
"Here you go." Ozpin hands Oscar a torch and the team descends into the cave. Oscar stays behind to keep an eye on Cardin.
"This way." Blake says as the team descends into the cave, through a narrow passage. "Looks like we'll have to squeeze through here." Cardin groans at this.
"That's gonna be an issue with Cardin's fear of small spaces." Ren reminds.
"You two go ahead." Oscar advised. "I'll help Cardin."
