The chapter begins with Oscar heading towards the big crash site.
"Okay. Gotta think... Keep my head. I'll just head to the wreckage and see what I can find." He says to himself. "Maybe some water... Something."
"After that plane crash, I doubt there's anything left." Emerald says. "Especially with the plane on fire."
Oscar searches the wrecked plane and the fallen cargo surrounding it. Unfortunately, he didn't find anything except a gun that was still intact. He grabs it and walks up a sand dune and looks out into the distance. He sees nothing but sand.
"Perfect." He grumbles. "Here we go..."
"Does he have what it takes to survive in a desert??" Maria asks, concerned. "All he has is a gun but no food or water."
"True." Amber nodded. "But he made it this far just to save his friend. He can't give up now.:
"I just hope he doesn't die of thirst."
Oscar starts walking into the Rub' al Khali desert trying to stay in a straight line and hoping to find anything that could help him in any way. After about a couple hours or so, he starts to slow down as the sun beats down on him immensely.
"Alright. Hating the sand." He pants.
"C'mon kid, you can do it." Tai urged. "Keep pushing."
Oscar keeps moving as he gets to the top of another sand dune. "Okay... If I could just find some water, some water would be good."
"I hope there is, because I haven't any in plain sight." Summer states. "And he could really use it."
Oscar gets to the bottom of the dune and spots something up ahead. As he gets closer and sees it's a hole in the ground with a small stone wall around it and a rope coming out of it.
"What is that??" Qrow asked, trying to get a better look.
"It's a well." Raven answered.
"A well?" Ruby perked up. "So that means there's some water, right?"
"A well." Oscar says with relief. Oh, thank God." He runs over to the well and pulls the rope out. Bring it on up. I don't care if it's cold or not. He pulls out a leather sack at the end of the rope and looks in. There's nothing but sand inside. The well is all dried up.
"Oh what the hell." Yang cursed in anger.
"Well that's just fan-fucking-tastic." Nora growled.
"Goddamnit. You gotta be kidding me." Oscar exclaimed in disappointment. He throws the sack down and sighs in exasperation. "Now what?"
"Find some place to rest." Glynda suggest. "I know you want to rescue Ozpin, but you'll pass out with keep going on like this."
Oscar begins to leave. Several more hours later, the sun goes down and the night comes. It gets cooler and Oscar can travel easier but he's still lost. The sky is filled with the moon and stars. He looks up and tries to remember the map of the night sky from the underground sanctum back in the city.
"Alright... Where are you, Oz?" He has a great difficulty trying to figure it all out. "Ah, come on, Oscar. Okay, there's Orion... There's the Big Dipper..." He starts feeling stressed out. "Ah, shit... Shoulda been in the navy."
"Alright kid, enough sight seeing." Maria says. "Find a place, like a rock or something, to rest nearby."
The next morning, things are very blurry for Oscar. The sunlight is much brighter to him than yesterday. He didn't really get any sleep last night. He moves very slowly.
