The chapter starts back in the present where Oscar and Ozpin are lying motionless on the side of the alley with bloodstains on their shirts as the car with Cinder and Salem in it drives away from them and Cardin. Cardin watches the car as it goes to the end of the alley and disappears as it turns onto the street.
"And... they're gone." He turns to Oscar and Ozpin. "You lads all right?"
Ruby blinked, puzzled. "Wait, what??"
The seemingly dead duo open their eyes and smile. They stand up and stretch out as if they weren't hurt at all.
Ozpin laughs. "Oh God, thought you were gonna put a silencer on that thing."
Cardin grins. "Oz, you've got no sense of drama."
"So wait, Cardin is actually working with Oscar and Ozpin??" Jaune questioned, surprised.
Theo nodded. "That's right."
"But he's working with Cinder??" Yang says, flabbergasted.
"He's actually working undercover." Lucy tells them.
"So, all that happen in the first chapter was... just a show??" Nora questioned.
Andy nodded. "Correct."
Cardin sighed, relieved. "Good thing. I think what would've happened if I ended up teaming with that woman."
"Right. All that racket is gonna bring the cops any minute. Let's get the hell outta here." Ozpin says as Oscar looks over at Cardin.
"You coulda pulled a couple of those punches, Winchester."
"What d'ya mean? I hardly touched you." The double agent thug says.
Weiss rolled her eyes. "I find that hard to believe from what we just saw in the alleyway."
"You headbutted me." Oscar complains.
Cardin sighs. "Alright, alright, I got a little swept up in the moment." He argued and points at him. "You were the one who said 'make it look realistic"."
"Not too realistic is probably what he meant." Pyrrha says.
Ozpin leans over to Oscar. "Better stay on his good side." He patted his shoulder.
Cardin takes out a hand held radio and speaks through it. "Alright, Bright Eyes, look sharp, they're coming your way. Don't lose 'em." He puts the radio away as Oscar takes out a string with another silver ring on it and puts it around his neck.
"Wait, but I thought-" Ruby began.
"Salem took the fake one, Little Red." Roman interrupts. "This was a trap just to draw them out."
"Told you they'd take the bait." Oscar says as the three men start walking down the alley.
"How long do 'you reckon before they realize theirs is a fake?" Cardin asked.
"Who cares? We finally flushed 'em out." Oscar told him.
"Yeah, but you nearly got beaten up in the process." Neo points out.
"Now we just follow 'em back to their hole." Ozpin said.
"What hole??" Marrow asked, confused.
"Perhaps they have an underground lair." Clover assumed.
Oscar looks over him. "You do realize you make everything sound dirty."
"I do?" Ozpin asked, confused.
"Make what sound dirty??" Harriet asked, puzzled.
Suddenly, the three hear sirens approaching. "Shit, the filth!" Cardin mutters as they run down the alley and find a narrow pathway.
