Sally got her back pack, and left the house. She didn't want to go. She had tried faking ill but her parents didn't fall for it unfortunately.

So, now she was walking to school, she looked to Tate's house as she passed it, hoping he was leaving the same time she did.

She sighed after standing outside for a moment, no one was coming out of the house.

Sally continued to walk down the road, looking at her surroundings as she contemplated skipping. Especially due to the incident.

"Woah! Wait up." She heard Tate exclaim, turning around she smiled as she saw him.

"Hi." Sally smiled shyly.

"Why are you walking today?" Tate asked and Sally sighed.

"Dad won't anymore." Sally stated as they walked together and Tate rolled his eyes.

"Well, that's ridiculous." Tate shook his head.

"Yeah I guess." Sally shrugged, Tate offered her a cigarette and she took it and squeezed her arm.

"You nervous?" Tate asked, lighting his cigarette and then lighting Sally's with his, their faces very close. Sally blushed deeply, taking in a breath before blowing out the smoke.

"Minnie. I hate her." Sally sighed sadly.

"Don't worry, just stick by me all day mouse." Tate blew smoke out at her and Sally giggled as they got closer to the school.

"Whatever you say, blondie." Sally nudged him, and he chuckled. He rarely heard her joke. He liked this side of her.

"Let's finish these then head in." He smiled at her, butterflies fill her stomach and she felt herself become shy for a new reason.

They finished their cigarettes and then headed indoors to their classroom.

Sally pulled her beanie down on her head as she sat outside with Tate eating lunch.

She had a packet of crisps and a cold slice of cheese pizza. She ate it slowly and giggled as Tate pulled a disgusted face as he ate the school burger.

"That's fucking disgusting." Tate gagged.

"It looks gross." Sally shivered.

"You're smart. You bring you're own food." Tate told her.

"Okay." Sally shrugged as Minnie and a jock walked over, Sally felt her anxiety spike.

"Oh my god, freak has a little friend with another freak." Minnie laughed and so did her boy toy.

"Leave us alone Minnie." Tate sighed, taking Sally's hand in his own, looking up to the couple.

"God it's funny when he tries to stand up for himself." The guy laughed, and Sally tugged on Tate's hand and shook her head.

She didn't want him to get beaten up or anything like that, so she grabbed her stuff and pulled Tate with her.

"Yeah! Runaway you pussy." Minnie smirked as they walked off.

"Hey, are you okay?" Tate stopped her, turning her around once they were far away enough.

Sally said nothing and wrapped her arms around his torso, burying her head in his chest.

Tate smiled, slowly wrapping his arms around her upper body, placing a hand on the back of her head to comfort her.
