Jason hadn't spoken to his sister for 4,263 days.

Well, technically, he had. But he didn't think the 'talking' counted since the door to her room was in between them, blocking their faces from each other. And he knew it didn't count since she never responded.

But today he would see her. For the first time in forever, the gates to the palace would open, and he would lay his eyes on Thalia Grace for the first time in fourteen years and eight months.

Although, after today, she wouldn't just be his sister. She would also be the Queen of the kingdom of Olympus as well.

On the day of Thalia's coronation, Jason woke up early and got dressed in a frenzy, bubbling with anxiety and excitement. When he stepped out of his chambers, he saw something he hadn't seen since he was a baby: the castle's staff was actually preparing for a ball.

There was a cake! And musicians! And the servants were dusting the thrones! Jason didn't even know they had that many servants; all but a handful had left when his parents had first closed the gate eleven years ago.

The coronation started, and his anticipation grew as he anxiously awaited the royal he was most excited to see: Thalia.

Finally, finally, the trumpets blared out a fanfare and a man with graying hair announced, "Thalia Grace, Crown Princess of Olympus," and there she was.

Her dark hair was cut short and her blue eyes were set on the front of the room, where she was walking slowly towards. In an odd way, it sort of reminded Jason of a wedding, but Thalia's set jaw and black outfit and gloves was the opposite of what a bride looked like walking down the aisle.

He didn't remember much of the actual coronation. In fact, he was waiting for it to be over so the actual ball could begin and Jason could talk to her. It was the perfect opportunity: everyone too busy dancing to pay too much attention to them, but still paying enough to make sure she didn't run away before answering his question.

An hour later, he got his chance. The party was going strong, people twirling and dipping on the dance floor. Jason was standing next to Thalia, who was watching the festivities from the comfort of the side of the room. He liked it there, away from all the talking and laughter.

"Your coronation was great." Jason started, then internally grimaced at his own words. He had been waiting for his moment for eleven years, and the best he could do was 'your coronation was great?'
