JASON does have a talent for investigating things well. This talent is not just a skill, it's a natural talent. There's something in his brain that makes him think critically and is easily curious. His instincts are sharp. I hope that when he grows up, if not a doctor, he'll become a detective. However, his suspicion just now made me confused. How could his accusation fall on Will?
"Are you crazy? There's no way Will would kill me, you idiot!" I cursed.
If I wasn't transparent and my body weight wasn't as light as a feather, Jason would have screamed in pain when I kicked his leg, but instead I was the one who got electrocuted.
Jason put away his journal, pen, and cell phone charger. What caught my attention again was that he put black duct tape and rope in his drawer. With his jaw clenched hard, Jason slid out of the room.
I followed him before the door closed and stood behind his skateboard as usual. Actually, I already knew where Jason was going. To Will's house.
William Jones. My crush... or at least that's what the kids at school said when I was still alive.
"Will!" he shouted rudely from outside Will's house.
His behavior somehow reminded me of Mom, Lady Jane. I don't know how Lady Jane has possessed Jason and changed him. Lady Jane should have changed me, but now Jason... he must have been influenced by me.
Will's handsome exotic face appeared from the slightly opened window upstairs.
"Jason? What do you want?"
"Come down!" Jason shouted.
Will shook his head. "You go up! Don't be such a spoiled kid!"
Jason immediately entered without asking permission. I had never been to Will's house. Although his family was rich, this house was not as big as I expected. I thought his house was a mansion like mine or something. However, this was just a simple classic European-style house with white paint and wooden floors. Maybe this was just one of his houses.
We arrived at Will's room. His room was super duper dirty. Messy. Very different from Jason's room. Jason was a cleanliness freak. In the past, if I threw away the Retty-Tetty wrapper, he would immediately grumble and throw it in the trash.
Will got up from his chair. "What's wrong?"
Jason's brow furrowed. He paused for a moment, hesitating. "Are you... busy?"
"No," Will answered shortly. "What's wrong?"
"I want to play video games with you."
I was immediately taken aback. "Huh?"
"Oh... Come on!"
Jason and I crossed the room, which was littered with snack wrappers, the rest of which were scattered on the floor. In the corner of the room to the middle, there were some of Will's pants and shirts scattered with an unpleasant odor. Ugh, if I had known it was this dirty, I would have rejected him from the start!
Will turned on the television in front of his bed and took the PlayStation console. Jason followed him. I didn't know what game they were going to play, but I understood the game Jason was playing in his mind.
Jason must be trying to investigate Will. He analyzed Will's room carefully, but Will didn't notice. His attitude was exactly like Sherlock Holmes. When they had just started playing video games, Jason turned his gaze to Will.
"If Nadya were here, it would be more fun."
Will was silent for a moment, he swallowed his saliva slowly. "Yeah."
"I miss her," Jason said weakly.
Will just stayed silent then exhaled.
"Do you think Nadya's death was natural?" Jason asked.
"No," Will answered quickly. "I don't think... she committed suicide."
"Of course not," Jason said. "You know? Her nanny... Aunt May... was arrested on charges of murdering Nadya."
Will quickly turned his gaze to Jason. His brow furrowed faintly. "Aunt May? No way."
Judging from his reaction, I was increasingly convinced, it wasn't Will who killed me, but Jason was still not satisfied.
Will wasn't my friend. He wasn't my neighbor either. However, if the gossip was true, Will liked me, then he definitely knew about my personal life. Including my relationship with Aunt May. Besides him using Jason to find out things related to me, he could actually ask Amber or my other friends.
"There's no way Aunt May killed her. That doesn't make sense." Will insisted.
Just watch out if you want to mess around, Jason!
Jason was still suspicious of Will, but it was baseless.
"Do you know? What caused her death?" Jason asked.
"What?"
"There was poison in her Retty-Tetty gum."
Will swallowed hard and then lowered his head. Will, the handsome guy in this school was sad because of me. I didn't know whether to be grateful or sad. On one hand I was lucky to be liked by the popular guy in school, on the other hand, my best friend accused him of being my killer.
"You once asked me about the candy that Nadya liked."
I glanced at Jason again. It was clear. I knew now what Jason meant and why he accused Will.
"Are you accusing me?" Will asked directly. His muscles tensed. "You're crazy?"
"Well, Nadya rejected you, and..."
Will got up and grabbed Jason's shirt, glaring. "And I want revenge? Is that it? Is that what you had in mind? Don't talk nonsense!"
A punch almost landed on Jason's smooth face with my scream before Will changed his mind and let go.
"I would never do that!" Will said firmly while catching his breath.
Yeah, Will would never do that. He's not the type of guy who would cry because he was rejected by a girl. I'm sure he's also not the type of guy who would kill a girl who rejected him.
"Ridiculous!" Will snapped again. "So that's all your analytical skills?"
Jason fell silent. His eyes were irritated and it was clear that he was frantically looking for an answer to reply to Will, but his accusation was indeed weak.
"Tell me now, if your accusation is true, when did I put the poison in Retty-Tetty?" Will asked still with emotion on top of his head.
"Well, you could have sneaked into her room during the party."
Will laughed dryly. "Her birthday party was crowded! If I sneak in and put the poison, I'll be caught red-handed!"
Checkmate. Will was right. Jason's accusation was ridiculous, even stupid. Will wasn't the one who did it. I wanted to scream that in front of him.
"Then who?" Jason asked more to himself. His eyebrows knitted together, his forehead furrowed. Hah! Don't let yourself have a brain hemorrhage, Jason!
Will tried to calm down and sat on the high chair.
"But your theory is good," Will said.
Jason looked up. "Huh?"
"Someone... must have put the poison in before the party started."
