"Christine, wake up." Gustave turned on the light.
She groaned and quickly stood. She walked to her closet and threw on a pair of white jeans and a sage green tank top. She grabbed her backpack and walked to the bathroom to brush her teeth. She sprayed some perfume on her wrists and then trotted downstairs.
"Good morning." She kissed her father's cheek.
"Good morning, mija. I made your lunch.""Thanks." She smiled.
She fed her dog and patted his head.
"Christine, wait." He said, just before she walked out the door.
"Yeah?"
"Please be safe. Please."
"I will, Dad. I promise."
He nodded.
"Have a good day at school." He said.
"I will." She smiled and walked outside.
She started her car and drove to school.
"Where am I supposed to park?" She bit her lip.
She finally found a spot and parked. She sighed and grabbed her bag. Christine got out of the car and walked to the front of the school while looking at her schedule. A car sped through the lot and almost hit Christine.
"Damn it. Watch where you're driving!"
She kept walking but turned around for a moment to see who was getting out of the car. Two people, a boy and a girl, stepped out of the car. They looked like siblings. They both had brown hair and brown eyes. The boy was smoking and the girl was smacking a piece of gum. They looked around like they owned the place. Christine rolled her eyes and kept walking. She met up with her friends and they walked from class to class. "Why is he smoking?" Raoul said."I don't know. New kids." She shrugged.
She said goodbye and walked off to her first class with Meg. They sat in the front while the smoker sat in the back.
"Mr. Andrews, smoking is not permitted at this school."
He said nothing.
"Get out."
He chuckled and stood. Christine looked back at him and he winked at her. She rolled her eyes and looked forward. At lunch, everyone gathered around their usual table.
"Who the hell are those new kids?" Meg asked, sitting down.
They all watched as these siblings walked over to the lunch tables.
"I have no idea. The girl is in my English class and she got kicked out for tattooing herself with a pen and a rock or something." Raoul shrugged.
"The boy was smoking in one of our classes." Christine said.
They all slightly turned to see the two of them walking over. They sat down and everyone was silent for a moment.
"Hi." Joseph said.
They looked at him but said nothing.
"So, what's the deal with this place?" The girl asked.
"Why are the teachers so strict?" Her potential brother finished.
"Probably because you were smoking in school." Christine mumbled and looked at her salad.
"You know, I like you." The boy spoke up.
"Lucky me." She said in a monotone voice.
"I'm Jackson and this is my sister, Amber."
"Jackson and Amber." Christine repeated, slowly nodding.
