[Y/N's POV]

I had the best sleep of my life that night. I stopped sleeping in the same bed as my mom when I was five, but I'd always come back to her when I had a nightmare. This was probably the one that messed me up the most, though.

I decided to stay put and make myself comfortable. I wouldn't be able to see her for a few months, so I wanted to spend as much time as possible with her while I could.

"You haven't clung onto me like this since you were little. I remember when you were just a little baby. You would always cry when I wasn't in bed with you." Mom teased, pulling on my cheek. "Now look at you, going to leave your mother all by herself every summer..."

"You act like I want to go back." I huffed, "If I were a normal kid, I wouldn't wanna do anything like this."

"I understand, sweetie." She cooed, rubbing her thumb along my cheek, "Stay safe for Mama, okay?"

"I'll try."

Wrapping the blanket tighter around me, I closed my eyes again to see if I could get any more sleep.

I was unfortunately interrupted by Annabeth kicking down the door in a panic.

"Ms. Aurelian. Y/N's missing, and we can't find him! We looked everywhere. Have you seen him?"

My mom pulled me into her lap and sat up, presenting me to her: "Right here, Annabeth, he's A-okay. He just had a little nightmare last night and had to come and see his mom."

I gave Annabeth a little wave, "Hi, um... I got scared." I mumbled, a little embarrassed.

"Oh. Oh, thank the gods. I thought you'd gotten kidnapped or something." She said, looking towards the door. "Lou, you can tell Leah to stop looking. We found him!"

"At this rate, you're gonna give me gray hair, Bambi." She chuckled, rubbing her temples.

"Sorry..." I mumbled.

"It's okay," she sighed, "just glad we found you. I think Leah was about to have a breakdown up there."

A grin grew across my mom's face for some reason before she stretched and said, "We need to get up anyway if we're going to make it to New York at a reasonable time. Y/N, do you still want to pick up your other friend, Percy?"

Scratching the side of my head, I answered, "Probably yeah, knowing how things work, he'll end up being important and play a central role in the events that will be happening. Son of one of the Big Three and all that." I turned to Annabeth, "Are we just the sidekicks to Percy?"

A scowl fell on her face, "Heck no! He's our sidekick if anything."

"I'm glad I'm not forced into the sidekick role with him."

"Mmmm, you don't fit the sidekick role all that well. A loveable, reluctant hero. Though I guess Percy kind of fits the reluctant hero role too..." She tapped her chin a few times, "But I like you more, so you don't get the sidekick label like he does."

"Awww, you're makin' me blush, Annie!" I said, placing my hands on my cheeks. "Do you really mean that?"

She crossed her arms and huffed, looking away from me. It was dark, but I could see a faint blush on her cheeks. "If you keep calling me Annie, you'll get demoted to sidekick with Percy."

"You wouldn't do that. You love me!"

"I do not! S-shut up!" She said, storming off to who knows where.
