The thing Kit Lainey remembered the most about the days after the EF5 was the amount of destruction it caused. Luckily it has for the most part been in the middle of nowhere and other than - her friends, not many people had been hurt.

Destruction was always something that haunted Kit. Today was no different. Everything today had been going well, the twin sisters, the stream. Everything was fine. Then the tornado started moving toward a small town. Immediately they ended the stream to head towards it.

It didn't matter how many times she'd seen destruction, every time Kit found herself thinking back to that day 5 years ago. This is likely why Boone had stuck himself to her side while they went looking for people who needed help.

He hadn't asked if she was okay- which Kit was grateful for but she could see him itching to ask her something. Every time she'd look back at him he would look away and eventually Kit stood up. She crossed her arms over her chest and waited.

"Will you just ask me what you wanna ask me already Boone?" The man shot up looking at her with wide eyes.

"I told ya I wouldn't-" So it was something about the EF5. That made sense.

"Yeah well you're acting like a scared animal so just ask so we can move on." She was a little snappy and she would apologize for that later. Right now she was more focused on his question.

"Why don't ya play music anymore?" That wasn't the question she was expecting.

"What?"

"Look I know I promised to mind my business when it came to your past but I used Google to look you up. You were real good," Kit turned away so she didn't have to look at him anymore. She just went back to picking up debris. Her eyes landed on her hand which was scarred. She wasn't wearing the brace at the moment because it wasn't hurting her too badly, but seeing it after hearing the question brought her back to the exact reasons she didn't play.

"Being good don't have nothing to do with it," She muttered, it was the only response she could think of.

"I saw ya singing today Kitty. Back in the truck. You still got it," the woman froze. When had she been singing? She looked back at Boone.

"I uh- I can't talk 'bout this right now," she swallowed harshly. Boone looked hurt.

"It's been three years, don't ya trust me?" He sounded sad and Kit felt sick. She wanted to respond but she couldn't find the words. She opened her mouth to respond but couldn't make anything come out and Boone nodded. "Nah I'm sorry. I shouldn'ta said nothing." Kit didn't even get the chance to try and apologize before he walked away to help someone else.
