Kit didn't remember much about what happened after Kate kissed her. It was all kind of a blur, she remembered holding Kate close and feeling her head spin. She remembered Tyler trying to say her name and asking if she was okay. Then everything had gone black again.

The next time she woke up she was in a hospital bed. Panic filled her chest immediately. Hospitals were a fear she had been holding onto for years, which made sense considering the last time she had been in one was after her boyfriend and friends died. Needless to say, Kit did not like hospitals.

Her eyes squinted open, she flinched at the bright lights. Her first thought was Kate. Was she okay? She'd been the one driving, she was probably hurt too, wasn't she? She wasn't even thinking when she tried to sit up, until pain shot through the entirety of her body.

"Shit," she heard a voice but couldn't quite tell who it was. Her vision was still kind of blurry and she reached to try and get the IV out of her arm. Someone was there to stop her, grabbing her lightly to try and get her to focus. "Kit hey," She couldn't breathe properly. It all felt like too much "Kit look at me."

She tried to listen and tried to breathe but she couldn't. Every time she tried to breathe in, it felt like it stopped. She was hyperventilating.

"Hey, Kit." the voice next to her softened, she could barely hear it. "Can you follow the sound of my breathing?" She shook her head. "Please? Just like this." The person breathed in deeply and Kit tried to but failed. She let out a sob. "Hey, you're doing great. Just keep trying."

She tried again and this time managed to make it a whole breath. The person moved closer to her and counted slowly.

"In," they said, Kit squeezed her eyes shut and tried to follow. "And out."

It took a few tries before Kit's breathing finally slowed. She was okay, she was alive and everything was fine. She tried to talk herself into believing what she was saying.

"You okay now?" Finally managing to open her eyes, Kit looked towards the voice. Boone was seated next to her, sitting rather uncomfortable-looking hospital chair. Kit managed a small nod as a response to his question.

"W-where's Kate?" her words stumbled as she spoke. "Is- is she okay?" Boone looked at her gently.

"Kate's fine, Tyler dragged her down to get food 'cause she ain't wanna leave." Kit nodded again, blinking so she could try and get used to the lights. She wanted to ask more but she couldn't think straight.

Her eyes wandered down to the rest of her body. Her bad wrist was tightly wrapped, covering the angry-looking scar. A bandage was taped to her side and her arm had an IV in it. She moved to try and take it out again, she really hated IVs.
