summary.
KIT LAINEY was never the smartest kid in the classroom. She was never the top of her class or the one who teachers could praise for hours when meeting with her parents. No KIT LAINEY was something else entirely. she wasn't going to be a doctor or a scientist, she would never work in a boring old office job. that's not who she was.
KIT LAINEY was going to be a country star. it had been her goal since she was 5 years old and singing to dolly parton's music that played on the staticky old radio. from rodeo performances to school talent shows, it practically set in stone and everyone knew it. at least until 2 days before her first big performance, when her boyfriend invited her out to experience the taming of a tornado to help keep her mind off her nerves. it would be quick and easy with science kit wouldn't pretend she understood. it was a break before all her plans fell into place. when suddenly that entire plan fell apart in the winds of an unexpected EF5.
5 years later KIT LAINEY still has dreams and still hates science. her place has drifted into being the manager of a storm chasing team.. she found herself a new life and left the old one behind for good. at least she thought she did. but when KATE CARTER shows up in the midst of a tornado outbreak across oklahoma KIT begins to realize that life might not be so easy to leave behind. especially when it comes to people you love.
