CHAPTER 21: HARD
SORCHA'S POV
Naalimpungatan ako nang makarinig ako ng sunod-sunod na katok. For a moment, I was a bit disoriented, and I didn't recognize where I was. It took me a minute to realize that I'm at Dagger.
Pakiramdam ko ay katutulog ko pa lang. Anong oras na rin kasi akong natapos sa laboratory bago ako nag-decide na pumunta na rito sa isa sa mga kuwarto sa second floor.
I glanced at the clock. Mag-a-alas kuwatro pa lang. Halos wala pa akong tatlong oras na natutulog.
A knock sounded again, this time louder. Magkasalubong ang kilay na tumayo ako. Sinong malakas ang loob na ginigising ako ng ganitong oras?
My face is surely showing my annoyance because when I opened the door and saw my brother, he took a couple of steps back and raised his hands in surrender. "I had no choice but to wake you."
"There's better be a good reason," I said through gritted teeth.
"Well... it depends on the perspective—"
Hindi niya nagawang tapusin ang sasabihin niya nang may marinig kaming ingay na nanggagaling sa direksyon ng elevator. I heard my name being called a couple of times, some louder and the others sounding muffled.
"That's the problem," napapakamot sa ulo na sabi ni Kuya Nevan. "I tried to stop him pero ayaw magpaawat."
"At problema ko 'yon?"
Pinagsalikop niya ang mga kamay niya. "He just wants to see you. Kung hindi ay hindi 'yan matatahimik. Baka barilin na tayo ng iba kapag nagising sila sa ingay ni Daze."
"Dapat kasi inuwi mo na lang sa bahay mo. At least doon ikaw lang ang maiingayan."
"I tried that as well. He attempted to jump from the car once and escaped from the window twice."
I pressed my lips together, giving him a look that tells him that if he's not my brother, I would have bitten his arm off for waking me up for this.
Bumalik ako sa kuwarto at kinuha ko ang Dagger hoodie ko. I pull it over my white pajama bottoms with a cactus design and a white cami top. Pagkatapos niyon ay lumabas na ulit ako at dire-diretso kong pinuntahan sila Daze.
Naabutan ko siyang nakasalampak sa labas ng elevator. Nakayakap siya sa braso ni Pike at nakasandal naman kay Leo na nasa kabilang gilid niya.
Nilingon ko ang kapatid ko na huminto sa tabi ko. "Sinama mo pati ang dalawang 'yan sa dinner na dapat para sa forensic department?"
"Yup."
"You know that we never forget a favor, don't you? Kapag kayo ang nagkaroon ng team dinner, huwag na kayong magugulat kung nandoon kaming lahat." I nudge Daze with my foot. Muntik siyang tumumba kasama ang dalawa niyang bagong tropa. "Bakit pati sina Pike at Leo nag-inom?"
