Luke thinks I don't know but I do. His band is in town for Luke's bar opening. The plan was the grand opening of his bar, his band would come into town to play opening night. I have out plotted the master of plotting. I planned a surprise dinner for him and his band mates. They are all in on it. I also finished the mural without him knowing. Barely managed that though because he's super nosey and currently stressed. It's been 6 months since this Summer was born. It's been crazy and hectic but I wanted him to have some support and appreciation for how far we've come.
I had a cute little t-shirt made for Luke's grand opening for Summer. Lucy was coming along too and was bringing her husband for a night out. I had to cook everything for dinner at the bakery this morning to hide the surprise from him.
Glancing at my phone, I got the green light from Lucy. I was all ready.
"Luke!" I called fake worry written on my face.
"What?" He jumped up from the table.
"Someone broke into the bar." I stammered the words trying to really sell it.
"Oh my God I knew it, I jinxed myself. I knew something was going to happen and now I've done it, I finally manifested this shit." He paced looking for his keys.
"Everything will be okay." I soothed him. "We go together." I grabbed my keys before he found his he picked up Summer.
"Are you crazy? What if the lunatic is still there?" He panicked.
"Well I'm not letting you go by yourself, you're a wreck." He paused.
"Fine." He relented as I snickered to myself, turning my back. Was it bad to laugh at yes but it was worth it, hopefully.
As we arrived. Luke jumped out of the car. I quickly unbuckled Summer and I rushed behind him. The door to the bar was wide open. He burst into the bar as the lights flipped on.
"SURPRISE!" Everyone shouted as Luke stumbled back; it took him a while to recognize all the faces. Luke relaxed, covering his mouth in shock as he turned to me. Everyone started laughing.
"You!" He pointed at me pulling me and Summer into an embrace. "I'm going to have to get you back for that later." He promised in my ear as chills formed all over my body. His band mates surrounded him exchanging hugs as Lucy and Calvin, her husband approached me.
"Calvin it's nice to finally meet you, I've heard all about you." I smiled, giving him a hug.
"And I you." He smiled in return. "This must be Summer!" He chuckled, making a goofy face as she giggled.
"Was he surprised?" Lucy leaned in.
"I think a bit more than that." I laughed. "I gotta grab a couple from the kitchen for dinner, do you mind?"
"Not a bit." She reached out her arms for Summer as I retreated to the kitchens. I placed the dinner rolls on the counter and the cake out of the fridge.
"Should have known you were back here." Luke approached.
"Of course I would, I have dinner back here." I placed the cake down, turning around not realizing he was that close to me. My back hit the counter as Luke looked down at me. I was boxed in. He wrapped his arms around me.
"Thank you for this." His warm scent enveloped me as I snaked my arms around his back in return. I could feel every ridge and plane of his chest as he held me there. He released me peeking behind me. I turned and looked at the cake. It made sense. Luke chuckled as he read the cake.
Written in White icing Did I do that with a photo-shopped picture of Luke on it. Bryce, Luke's band mate, sent it to me to put on edible paper. His arms leaned on the counter on both sides of me.
