I finally got the new childproofing locks for the house. Luke made me promise to wait until he and Summer came home but I couldn't wait. There were too many to apply. I got straight to work. I had only partially finished the bathroom before that proved to be more difficult. I leave that one for Luke to handle. I managed to get all the cabinets and drawers done though.
I'm about to pee myself, I had been holding it for a bit. I ran to the restroom in a rush, slamming the door as quickly as I could. After I finished, I washed my hands and tried to open the door. It wouldn't budge. I tried again and again more frantically by the second. Oh my god I child locked myself in the bathroom I pulled away. Think Jane, Think. The door was locked from the outside. There were no mincing words, I was doomed. Maybe Lucy was home. I called her as quickly as possible.
All I got was her voicemail. I huffed. I'll be damned if I have to explain this to Luke. First he's going to say I told you so and then he'll never let me live it down. My pride won that argument. Luke and I were making progress. The last thing I want is to embarrass myself. Could I make it out the window? I opened it, looking tentatively below. This was only one story but this was the highest window in the house. I'm also already horribly coordinated. This was also the smallest window which means I could get stuck.
I weighed my options.
Luke found me locked in the bathroom.
Luke found me locked in the bathroom with my ass out the window. Stuck.
I bit the inside of my cheek.
Fuck it.
I called Luke.
"Hey, what's up?" Luke's soothing voice sent relief rushing through me.
"Luke, thank God you answered!" I sighed. "Promise you won't laugh at me..."
"Hold up one sec, Nah I'm just messing with you! Congratulations you got my voicemail! You know what to do." The voice died and the beep sounded to leave a voicemail.
"Oh my god, every damn time!" I shouted to nobody. That stupid voicemail gets me every fucking time.
I sat on the bathroom floor before I typed a very frustrated.
Call me.
To Luke.
30 minutes passed. I debated calling the fire department but the embarrassment would be horrific and I also did want to waste resources. I laid my head on my knees. Waiting.
"Jane!" Luke shook me violently.
"What?" I rubbed my eyes and only then did I see the panic written on his face. I looked at my surroundings for a second and remembered. I was locked in the bathroom. Luke must have seen the message finally.
"Are you okay?" He sat me up looking slightly relieved as I looked at my phone. I had been trapped in the bathroom for 2 hrs!
"What the hell took you so long? I called and texted. I've been trapped in here for 2 hrs!" I was frustrated and embarrassed. It was partially my fault I didn't wait until he got home like he said but 2hrs. I continued on but he caught me off guard as he wrapped his arms around me squeezing me tightly. His heart was racing, I sank into his touch.
"I'm so sorry my phone died. I saw your car in the driveway, your purse too and came in calling for you. I checked every room and then I found you laid out on the bathroom floor. I..." He stammered. He was worried about me, squeezing me tight as if he was scared to let go.
"I'm okay." I lifted his head. "It's not your fault. I'm sorry, I was just embarrassed and frustrated that I locked myself in here.
"I'm sorry I wasn't here." He pleaded.
"No you have nothing to be sorry for." I shook my head and he gave a weak smile.
"I.." Luke started to apologize again before I cut him off.
"No if, ands or buts about it." I kissed him softly as he relaxed responding to my touch. "Now if you don't mind I really don't want to be in here for a second longer."
