It was a hot summer day in the bustling city of New York, the sun was shining down on the busy streets as people rushed to and fro. In the midst of all the chaos, two men, Great and Tyme, were engaged in a heated conversation.

"You should be addicted to shutting the fuck up," Tyme sneered at Great, his arms crossed over his chest.

Great laughed, his dark hair falling into his eyes, "And you should be addicted to growing a brain, Tyme."

The two men had been friends since childhood, but they were complete opposites. Great was loud, outgoing and always spoke his mind, while Tyme was more reserved, choosing to observe and only speak when necessary.

The argument between the two friends had started when Great had convinced Tyme to go on a blind date with one of his female colleagues. Tyme had reluctantly agreed, but things had gone awry when the girl turned out to be a complete nightmare. Tyme had blamed Great for setting him up with someone so incompatible and things had escalated quickly.

"You want to kiss me so bad it makes you look stupid," Great teased, a mischievous glint in his eye.

Tyme rolled his eyes, "You wish, Great. I have standards unlike you."

A small smile played at the corners of Great's lips, "Oh, so you do admit that you want to kiss me."

Tyme's cheeks flushed with frustration, "So what if I do? It's not like it would ever happen."

Great's smile widened, "Is that a challenge, Tyme?"

Tyme's jaw clenched, "No, it's not a challenge. Can we please just drop it?"

But Great wasn't one to let things go easily, "Come on, Tyme. Don't tell me you're scared to kiss me."

Tyme's temper flared, "I am not scared, Great. And even if I was, it wouldn't be because of you."

The two men continued to bicker back and forth, their conversation filled with insults and banter. But deep down, they both knew that their friendship was too strong to be affected by a silly argument.

After a while, their voices grew tired and the streets around them grew quieter as the day turned into night.

They both realized that they were hungry and decided to call it a truce and grab some dinner together.

As they walked to their favorite pizza place, Tyme couldn't help but feel grateful for Great's friendship. He may have been annoying at times, but he was always there for him when it counted.

And as they sat across from each other, laughing and enjoying their meal, Tyme couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe, there was a small part of him that did want to kiss Great.

But he knew that their friendship was much more valuable, and that was more than enough for him.

From that day on, the argument about kissing was never brought up again. But the bond between Great and Tyme grew even stronger, proving that sometimes, it's the little arguments and disagreements that make a friendship even more special.

As they finished their meal, Tyme leaned back in his chair, wiping a stray speck of sauce from his lips. "You know, for all the hell I give you, I’m glad you dragged me out tonight," he admitted, his tone softer than it had been earlier.

Great grinned, his eyes sparkling. "See? You’d be lost without me. Just admit it—you live for my unsolicited advice and wild schemes."

Tyme chuckled, shaking his head. "Wild is one way to put it. Just promise me no more blind dates, okay? If I wanted to suffer, I’d go to a dentist."

"Deal." Great paused, his expression turning more serious. "But seriously, Tyme, I didn’t mean to put you in that situation. I thought she’d be perfect for you."

"I know you did," Tyme replied. "And I appreciate that you care so much. Just… sometimes it’s overwhelming."

Great leaned forward, eyes searching Tyme's face. "What do you mean by that? Overwhelming how?"

Tyme sighed, his voice barely above a whisper. "I guess I just feel like there’s so much pressure to find someone, to date. Sometimes, I wish it could be simpler, like… just being with someone I can actually connect with."

A flicker of understanding passed between them, and Great's heart raced. "Is that what you want?" he asked, his voice almost trembling with anticipation. "Someone you can truly connect with?"

Tyme shifted his gaze, avoiding Great's intense stare for a moment before finally meeting his eyes. "Yeah, I do. I didn’t think it would be you, but… I can’t deny that there’s something special about what we have."

Great felt a warmth spread through his chest, treading cautiously but being bold enough to press on. "So, you’re saying you’d want to give ‘us’ a shot?"

Tyme's inhale was deep, as if anchoring himself before jumping into uncharted waters. "I’m terrified, but… maybe. I mean, we’ve already got this amazing friendship. What if… what if it could be even more?"

Great’s heart raced. "If it’s terrifying, it’s because it matters." He leaned across the table, bridging the distance that had always felt comfortable yet uncertain between them. "You mean a lot to me, Tyme. Actually, you mean everything."

Tyme blinked, something shifting in his expression as he absorbed Great’s words. "Do you really mean that?"

"Absolutely. The teasing, our fights, it’s all just… part of what makes you, you." Great's voice softened, sincerity emanating in every word. "But now, I can’t help but see how perfect you’d be as more than just my best friend."

Silence enveloped the table, both men feeling the weight of what was being said. Something had shifted—an invisible thread that connected them tighter than any playful argument could ever sever.

"You’re serious," Tyme said, and it wasn’t a question but an acknowledgment. His heart thudded against his ribcage, hope and fear mingling. "You really… love me?"

"Yeah," Great confirmed, smiling through his own surprise at the admission. "I think I do. And if you feel even a fraction of that, shouldn’t we explore it? Together?"

Tyme felt his heart swell, the tension between them resolving into something warm and fertile. "I think I do." He hesitated, the weight of vulnerability striking. "But… are we really ready for that?"

Great’s grin returned, brightening his face. "I think we’ve been ready for a while. Let’s take it slow, figure it out as we go. We owe that to each other, right?"

A smile broke out on Tyme's face, relief washing through him. "Yeah, we do. And… maybe, just maybe, I’d be okay with practicing that kiss you keep teasing me about."

Great leaned in closer, his heart racing with excitement. "How about we start right here, right now?"

With that, they both leaned across the table, the world around them fading away. Their lips met softly, and in that moment, everything clicked into place. It felt right, and so natural.

As they pulled back, their eyes locked, both of them with smiles that could light up the darkest city streets.

Tyme let out a soft laugh, shaking his head in disbelief. "I can’t believe we just did that."

Great chuckled, still grinning. "We sure did. And I’ve got to admit, it was better than I expected."

"Let’s hope I can live up to your expectations," Tyme teased, a playful spark igniting between them once more.

"Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll do just fine," Great replied, winking as they continued teasing each other, the argument about kisses finally giving way to a new chapter.

And in the bustling heart of New York City, two friends began to discover the beautiful, chaotic landscape of love, finding comfort in the chaos they shared.
